We stayed in La Taverna villa in early October. The directions to get to Montebuoni could definitely improve as we lost about 30 minutes trying to find it. Late check-in time worked fine, but might be inconvenient for some. The property is well-taken care of and the information provided at the villa is plentiful and was appreciated. Despite being a complex with many owners and renters, we hardly saw or heard people.
Generally, they provided most necessities and all was very comfortable. This villa, to note, does not have any real view as most others seem to have, but there is a nicely sized garden area with a great barbeque that we used most days! The lawn, near the villa, had a drainage problem and was always wet, and the downstairs room smelled horribly damp and wet, although it had a beautiful fireplace and nice couches. We actually only used this room once as a result.
The showers had some problems in terms of temperature fluctuation, and the master bedroom mattress was a bit uncomfortable for my parents. The kitchen had everything except for a microwave.
Firewood costs 10 Euros per bundle (a little pricey we thought), and there didn't seem to be much of a management presence - in fact, we only saw them once - which actually made it difficult to resolve any problem speedily. In general, we felt the service was a bit impersonal with no real 'welcome' feeling that we were expecting.
Overall, it was a lovely, private experience with a great location near to Siena and other towns. I would definitely do it again - but I would probably opt for a different villa.
Another note, they expect you to clean the villa as you found it - so plan on this
