What a beautiful place to stay. Set on over 5,000 acres (2050 hectares) of beautiful Tuscan countryside this is an absolute gem of a stopover. We spent a week here and could have easily stayed much longer. All the accommodations are well appointed apartment style rooms. As a family/friends group of 7 we had two units, each with two bedrooms and two bathrooms and a kitchen area, consisting of an induction cooktop, refrigerator, microwave, coffee maker, cookware, plates and cutlery, more than sufficient to produce many fine meals. The accommodations are spread out over the property, so this is a rural environment. The views were spectacular, the pool inviting and the staff were outstanding. Both Julie and Chiara, the reception area hosts, went above and beyond to help ensure our stay was more than memorable. Dr. Bruno's property walk was enjoyable and educational, but this is more a hike than a leisurely stroll, appropriate shoes are a must, but it is well worth the time spent. We only ate in the dining room once, but the meal was excellent and the estate wines all superb, fortunately they sell these wines at reception so it was easy to get more for the meals we made ourselves. A car is a must to stay here, San Gimignano is just 15 minutes away, Sienna is just under an hours drive. The main reception area and dining room is .5 of a kilometre or just over a third of a mile from the accommodation complex that we stayed in, some people walked, some drove, a secondary reception area, that also sold wine is located near the pool. Bar-b-ques, wood fired, are available for use in a communal area near the secondary reception area. Wi-Fi is available free of charge in the main reception building, there are no phones in the units.
Overall this a a wonderful, relaxing and beautiful place to stay. It is off the beaten track, so it it is wonderful place to rest and re-charge your batteries before tackling the busy and hectic adventures of the larger cities like Florence and Rome. We felt this location was a little too far to explore places like Montalcino or Monteipulciano, but it is near the beautiful sites of San Gimignano, Sienna and Volterra. Equally, we explored the town of Certaldo Alto, couldn't find it in any guide book, so on Julie's recommendation we went and weren't disappointed, this is a beautiful small gem hill town, almost unknown to the plethora of tourists you'll see everywhere else packing their tourist Guidebooks. A few of us (4) also took a cooking class offered on the estate with Chef Sedonia and assisted by Chiara. For almost three hours we had a great deal of fun and ended up taking back to our apartments enough food to feed seven very generously, with leftovers.
All of us would return to stay here again.
Notes, no maid service, towels and bedding only replaced once per week unless additional changes requested. Soap, shampoo supplied only in limited quantities as you are expected to provide these and other cleaning supplies like dish soap yourself. You are expected to leave the units tidy, dishes cleaned, fridges empty and the garbage removed, facilities for garbage and re-cycling are provided. Cost very reasonable
