The hotel is in a great position, 100 metres from walls of this most beautiful town, easy walk day or night, when very atmospheric. Rooms were ok, large and bright and clean and comfortable. Nice grounds with great views. This is a base, you dont spend much time in hotel, so dont expect a lot of facilities. People very pleasant. Only down side was unchanging and sparse breakfast. You wont be disapointed with San Gimi.

Very clean and comfortable with very friendly owners. We actually went to this hotel by mistake. We were meant to be staying at a similarly named hotel 12km's away. They were so friendly we ended up returning a day later for two nights. The cleanliness of the room (14) was far above average and the air-con was a welcome relief. Views over the hedge from the pool are amazing. It's a shame the hedge was there at all. Walk to town is possible within 10min but not possible with a pram. Hotel has some good quality equipment for small children. Restuarant served good food and also has a bar serving good cofffee and a good selection of spirits.

This hotel is situated just outside San Gimignano and as previosly pointed out it's a good base for exploring this area of Tuscany. Unfotunately that's the only positive point about this hotel - the rooms are dirty, the walls are extremely thin, the staff are unfriendly and the breakfast left alot to be desired.

The walls were so thin we could hear the phone ringing in reception all night and other guests movements as if they were in our room. Imagine a drunk guest trying to put his key in the door for 20 mins!

On checking out we were confronted (and ripped off) by an extremely unfriendly man who was upset we wanted to leave a day early - what can I say peoples plans change and we didn't fancy another sleepless night!

I wouldn't recommend this hotel - there are plenty more in the area.

We stayed at the Villa Belvedere in June 2004 and returned in June 2005. The hotel has a very convenient location. It is situated just outside the walls of San Gimignano and has a car park, a swimming pool and lovely views over the Tuscan hills. During the day, we explored Siena, Florence, Pisa and other locations (by car). In the evenings, a ten-minute walk (uphill) through the streets brings you to the walls of San G. which is a lovely place to explore and has lots of good restaurants. We ended each evening with a drink in one of the cafes on the main square watching the world go by!
The hotel itself is clean and comfortable and the staff are friendly. It was very hot when we were there and we very much appreciated the air-conditioning. Breakfasts were ok. There were sufficient loungers and umbrellas around the pool and the hotel has small but attractive gardens. Overall a pleasant place to stay and good value for money.
