My husband and I spent a week at the Podere for our Honeymoon. It is a lovely relaxing spot in a nature preserve, very close to town, shops, and a good midpoint to visit Pisa, Siena, and Florence. We did daytrips and it was perfect! Our luggage was lost and the staff was very helpful in contacting the airline for us. The weather was hotter than we expected but the pool was incredibly clean and refreshing, and the view from the pool was enough to keep us from wandering far. Plenty of vineyards nearby to visit too and the vernaccia is excellent but don't buy it from the roadside stands! We actually ended up picnicing at least one meal a day next to the pool with a bottle of wine or two! We don't speak Italian but the staff knows plenty so you can get by easily! I would recommend to anyone who is used to sleeping with fluffy pillows to bring your own, and bring a beach towel for the pool! Besides that we had a great stay and met some very interesting people. Visit the market in San Gimignano on Weds and the COOP 4min away is great for snacks, and picnic supplies, just don't try to go on Sunday. We rented a GPS which was a lifesaver on some of those backroads when we weren't quite sure where to go.

We arrived on our honeymoon with a wicked flu-bug and boy was this place a sight for sore eyes. Simply gorgeous villa accommodation with shuttered windows that opened to the absolutely incredible vista of vineyards and San Gimignano beyond.
The rooms were lovely, large and very well appointed. A wonderful restorative peaceful place to recover. The only drawback was that the town of San Gimignano was a couple of kilometres drive away and was the only place to get something to eat. Apart from breakfast at Podere which is nothing to write home about. If you are feeling well, then going into town is not much of a drama at all and it's lovely to stay out of the crowds and in such a stunning setting.

Beautiful, small B&B with incredible views of San Gimignano. The rooms were large and spotless. The breakfast was, by far, the best we had in our 2 week trip through Italy. San Gimignano is walking distance from the B&B, however, take note that Podere is on one hill and San Gimignano is on another - therefore, there is a bit of a hike involved and the road has a section that is not paved. It's a great walk for the fit, spritely or adventuresome person. I would highly recommend buying some cheese, meat and a bottle of local wine in San Gimignano after your day of sightseeing, and using the tables and chairs provided to enjoy the spectacular views of the city at night (and to replenish yourself after the hike back!)

I have just returned from a week's holiday in San Gimignano, Tuscany. I was lucky enough to stay at a wonderful farmhouse about 2km from San Gimignano - Podere Sant Elena. My friend and I stayed in the apartment (defianately worth paying the small amount extra for) - it was very well equipt with a lounge, kitchen, dressing room, bathroom and a triple bedroom with spectacular views from the two windows. The price of the apartment also includes a breakfast in the converted barn. The view from the immaculately clean pool is breathtaking - vineyards, the towers of San Gimignano and the countryside. The family who own the farmhouse are so friendly and will do anything to make your stay more enjoyable. Massimo - the young guy who worked at the pool in the afternoons was really friendly and full of advice on where to go during the holiday. Barbara and Gianni also own the Patisserie in the town - pay a visit, the chocolates and cakes are delicious. The memory of the church bells ringing on the Sunday in the distance will stay with me forever. I hope to return one day and would recommend this wonderful tranquil place to anyone. A must for anyone visiting Italy.
