Bitterly dissapointed. The two sisters who own the hotel were unhelpful and not at all friendly. Breakfasts were mean and had little variation. There was no lounge, only the breakfast room which had a cold atmosphere. Noise from adjacent bedrooms and toilets was a problem. Towels were not changed daily and we had to ask for replacement. Orignally booked for eight nights but gave up after four. One out of Ten for the view.

What al ovely hotel with friendly personal attention and in an ideal position about 25 minutes from Siena and about an hour
from Firenza airport. San Gimignano is literaly 2 minutes in the car and I guess the walk wouldn't take more than 20 minutes although I wouldn't fancy walking amongst the traffic at night.

We were looking forward to some intimate, friendly Italian hospitality but instead we were greeted by a couple of unhappy hoteliers. The hotel is run by two sisters and we felt it must have been coming to the end of the season and they just didn't want to be there. Their 3 young children join the guests for breakfast and like to make themselves heard - so not a relaxing start to the day. The bedrooms have amazing views, but were incredibly cold. We literally had to get into bed as soon as we got back to the room to keep warm. There was a thermostat in the room but no heat. We asked how to get the heater to work and they said they don't turn the heat on until November and were not willing to negotiate despite it feeling like the Antarctic. With the combination of unfriendly service, noisy children (morning and night) and freezing bedrooms with no heat available, we decided to cut our stay short by one night. We would not recommend this hotel based on our experience although it does have a lot of potential.

This was our favorite hotel in Italy, and we stayed in five on our 10-day trip. Granted, we stayed in all under 100 euro accommodations so if you're looking for luxury, this isn't necessarily it.
The grounds are gorgeous, plus there's a swimming pool. Our room was very clean and homey. The bathroom was narrow but the shower was fine. We loved the breakfast (croissants, cereal, tea, coffee, etc.) and found the staff friendly enough. Their dinner recommendation was spot on.
I highly recommend staying a night near San Gimignano because the town is much more pleasant to tour after the tour buses have left.
