Just got back from staying 5 nights at Le Volpaie and wish I was still there.
The hotel is small but has everything you need for a relaxing break. The cleanliness of the hotel is exceptional and the pool area is very tidy and pleasant to be around. Much has been said in other reviews about the breakfast and I can do nothing more than to endorse those comments, it is one the best breakfast selections that I have seen in Italy.
The location is sleepy and quiet but walking up to the excellent Tre Archi restaurant is pleasant simply by saying "buona sera" to the local residents sitting on their own terraces.
The best thing about Le Volpaie is the staff. Nothing is too much trouble and the personal touch is spot on. Thank you so much Anna & Lucca for a great stay and we will definitely see you again.
Just one last point some reviewers seem to think the likes of Siena are an hour plus away, they are not at all having driven to Siena twice in our stay and made it in 35 mins each time. You need a car to make the best of Le Volpaie but so many fantastic places are so close at hand and the welcome you get after a days exploring is fabulous.

This hotel is very clean, only complaint is there is no carpeting in the halls or rooms, so sound travels. From our room we can the other people in the bathroom and people talking. Overall its pretty quiet though. Breakfast is included is has the typical italian cuisine, meats, cheeses, fruit, baked good, and you can make toast! Havent had toast since we arrived in Italy. There's a pool and bar service until midnight. Overall nice hotel on the way to Voltarre or San Gimigginano.

Hotel Volpaie is a wonderful hotel, small - 15 rooms, great staff, near San Gimignano about 15 minutes away by car. No tourist crowds here. Anna and Luca serve a breakfast that is to die for. In the evening Tre Arche restaurant is within walking distance and is also terrific. I highly recommend this hotel & location - about an hour and twenty minutes friom Florence and a biyt less to Siena. Our first stop after arriving in Florence from US and renting the car; an easy drive and well worth it.

After a stay in Rome and Florence we picked up our rental car and headed for what would be the best part of our Italian vacation... five nights at the Hotel Le Volpaie in Castel San Gimignano. We booked a room with a terrace, and it was perfect. The rooms are spacious and very clean, the bathrooms are good size and comfortable, and the view in this part of town is amazing! The staff at the hotel - Anna and Luca, were friendly and easy to talk to, and extremely efficient. The breakfast was magnificent - included with the price of the room- we missed these breakfast very much after we left and went to Venice! There is plenty of parking for your car, very quiet area, and a perfect place to come back to after a day of sightseeing. There is one restaurant in town - a couple of blocks from the hotel - The Archi, which was good food and friendly atmosphere, and there is a pizza restaurant - Il Monte - a couple of miles away, which was great - we kept coming back again and again - with friendly people (thank you Jasmine!) good wine and great pizza! We enjoyed Le Volpaie tremendously, and encourage anyone going to Tuscany to stay at this wonderful place. Thank you Le Volpaie for an unforgettable stay!
