“Even better than in the pictures”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 20 September 2011

When we booked Podere Montese, we thought: If it is as good as in the pictures, it will be perfect. Two weeks there and we can frankly say: It was even better than in the pictures. We had a great time and Podere Montese is everything you imagine when you plan a vacation in Tuscany. This little place is close to San Gimignano and the view on the town is outstanding. The rooms are very tastefully furnitured, breakfast is great, pool is clean and big enough to relax and the hosts are very generous and helpful. Oh of course, the wine is excellent and Annalisa and Davide will help you with every problem!

Room Tip: Ask for the rooms which have the nice view on the town...

“First thing you notice of course is the beauty of this B&B then you meet the owner !!”

First thing you notice, of course, is the beauty of Podere Montese ,then you meet the owner! Davide could be from New York with all his charm and soft spoken manner but the scarf around his neck and cackys tells you he owns a vineyard and a B&B in Tuscany! Class all the way! Times were tough for him with the recession in Europe, but he has such passion for his B&B (as the fabulous pictures on the wall attest to) that you know you are in good hands! And that pretty much says it all!
His wine is superb as his B&B too! He drove my sister and I down to town whenever
we wanted,he was basically there for us! The added bonus is his sweet mother and
wife!I will tell all my friends Davide! thanks

“Does'nt get any better than this”

We spent five days at the Podere Montese in June. Great location, only 5 minutes by car to San Gimignano. Fabulous breakfasts. Family run by Davide and Annilese who make you feel part of the family. They make their own wine which was exceptional.and if you don't want go go anywhere just relax by the pool.

“A gem overlooking the exquisite Tuscany countryside!”

Thanks again Trip Advisor for this outstanding recommendation. There's always a bit of apprenhension when finally arriving at the hotel one books on-line. However, please take my word for it, this hotel is a find! I don't know what's the best part - the innkeeper,
Davide and his welcoming family, the lovely hotel itself, the outstanding view of San Gimignano, or the local wine, produced by Davide himself. It's rare that I leave a hotel and receive big farewell hugs at the door from the whole family. Can't wait to go back.

“Lovely views, but not a good experience”

We had high hopes for this place, since it was recommended by friends. However, we did not have a good experience. When we arrived the weather was rainy and cold. When I mentioned to the proprietor that our room was cold, he showed me the electronic monitor for our room and said that since it was 67 deg. in our room, that it was not cold, and that the temperature was controlled automatically and it would stay that way. The price of the room included breakfast, which he said would be available between 8:00 and 10:00. However, on one day he had not shown up at all by 8:45 when we had leave to catch a train. We were told that WiFi was available with a login. We were able to log in, however, the signal was so weak that there was only one spot in the room where we were able to use the internet (which was by the door and quite inconvenient). When we mentioned this to the proprietors we were told that the signal was just fine. We told him that we had an early flight on the day we were to leave. When we got up to get ready to leave there was no hot water available for a shower. All in all, we felt that the customer service was quite poor. It was all about him and if we needed something or were unhappy about something, then it was just too bad.
