“Very good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

Very good hotel with freindly staff and nice large rooms, easy to find. But if on holliday you need a car or do have to travel in taxi or bus into the fantastic town center Lucca. The rooms and hotel is modern and very clean. Restaurants does have very nice food and wine at very good prices and a staff which does help you in a very proff and informativ way. Breakfirst very good , but they sill have to learn to cook a good scrambel egg !! A hotel which is recomendabel for holiday and business and very good value for money, will for sure stay there again.

“Standard hotel for tour groups”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 October 2011

We stayed here as part of a tour package through Italy. It was quite a distance from the central part of Lucca, definitely not walkable and I don't believe that there was public transportation available. The hotel is nice but lacks the modern look of a new hotel, but everything is in working condition. Despite being hotel guests here, there is charge for internet service in your room but the hotel is nice enough to have a complimentary computer in the lobby for guest use, but the printer was not in working condition. Fortunately did not need to utilize the printer as it would have been inconvenient if I needed to print out our airline tickets after checking in on-line. Another guest was complaining about that inconvenience.

Our overnight stay included a dinner and breakfast plan. The food choice was preselected for dinner, but it was a nice choice - family style which included Barley Soup, pasta with green and tomato sauce, roast pork, roast potatoes, mixed salada and tiramisu cake for dessert. Very efficient service and the waiters worked very hard keeping up with our group of 21 members. The breakfast selection was nice also, but was quite busy as there were quite a few other tour groups that were scheduled during that time frame as well. Food was buffet style but they were promptly replaced when it was low.

Our standard room faced the garbage area; therefore, it was a bit inconvenient to hear the trash being brought out all night long, as we left the window open since it was quite warm in the room. The room key is hooked on a rather heavy stone like piece which was quite heavy and clumsy. It was somewhat inconvenient, but we only stayed there overnight.
The room was actually quite warm; since there was no air conditioner, we needed to leave the window open. Rooms are kind of dark as the lighting is not that bright, okay but can use a notch higher with the lighting. One other minor thing was that the walls between the rooms were not really soundproof. We were watching TV ~ 10p.m. and neighbors banged on the wall because they could hear our TV on- which was not loud at all.

If you want to do away from the main part of the town of Lucca, this is the place to stay as it is somewhat quite isolated from other businesses, Nearby some houses but definitely not walkable to shopping or other businesses. All in all, it is not a bad place for an overnight stay in the Lucca area of Italy.

Room Tip: The rooms toward the left end on the 1st floor facing west of the hotel face the garbage area so i...

“Good Hotel but caution while booking it.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 October 2011

Its a great hotel no two thoughts about it.
But we booked the top of the line room, thats a suite with one king and 2 beds but on checking in we were asked for 50 Euros more for extra people and no where on the website does it say that and while booking it PRICELINE never mentions it but writes it in FINE PRINT.
I had to pay the 50 Euros without which they wouldnt give me the room and we were driving in and it was like 10 PM.
I wouldnt say that the hotel staff was rude or something but I would ask everyone to check what room you are booking through to priceline.com as its a rip off.

Just make sure what you are getting as they have similar room with sofa bed too and thats what I was offered even if it said on my reservation that its one king and 2 double beds.

Just a heads up as you wouldnt want to be paying more for nothing again.

overall a good hotel good rooms great breakfast and nice staff.

Room Tip: eat the breakfast its included and good one.

“Fantastic service & Amazing service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

We booked our hotels through Holiday plus and really did not know what to expect as this was our first trip to italy and we do not speak italian. We had to book dinner and breakfast through the deal we bought.
The staff were so helpful, our room was lovely - new, clean and we had a lovely view of the mountains etc from our window.
The dinner and the resturant staff were increadible....they were so helpful - gave great recomendations and the food was of an excellent standard!
I would definately reccomend a visit to Lucca - lovely italian town and would most certainly recommend a night at the best western - we had a great stay!

Room Tip: Ask for a room facing the mountains (back of hotel)

“A good solution if you're driving to Lucca”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 September 2011

Location: Ideal for those driving to Lucca. It is on the via Romana, a short distance from town. From its website, I thought we would be able to walk to the walls but it is too far. The public shuttle bus stops right outside the hotel and is a 6-7 minute drive into the old walled city. It's too bad the shuttle service stops at 8 pm, because we had to use a cab to get back after dinner.
Amenities: after 10 days on the road staying in quaint and charming agriturismi, the BW was a big change. On the positive side, it had great AC, an elevator and flat screen TV....but those are the negatives too. It's basically a charmless chain hotel with no unique features at all. It was unusually hot during our trip so the AC was welcome though! I was happy to have free wifi service and the login and passwords change every 24 hours. Don't forget to stop by the desk to get the new information every day.
The breakfast room is large with a good variety of foods...even scrambled eggs which were quite good. We didn't try the restaurant or bar.
There are bikes to rent out front, but the street the hotel is on has quite a bit of traffic. I would be nervous to ride a bike on it. Once in town, there are many bike rental spots so I might use one of them instead.
Cleanliness: perfect! New sheets every day, bathroom was spotless. No complaints whatsoever.
Staff: everyone was very pleasant during check in and with our typical questions. There was a welcome packet given to us with our key that included a list of restaurants in town, a map, the shuttle bus schedule and other bits of helpful information. I was disappointed that when we asked to purchase shuttle bus tickets at the reception we were told that they ran out that morning. This was at 6 pm...it would have been nice if someone had made a run to get some more since buying them on the bus costs twice as much. Pre-paid tickets are 1 euro and on the bus they are 2. Not a huge sum, but the staff could have made sure to have enough on hand.
Views: none, except for a huge parking lot, which is a very lovely sight when you are used to driving and parking in tiny spaces!
All in all, this is a fine, mid-price hotel for people arriving by car. We were very happy with this choice.
