Room was standard, clean, not huge, no wow factor. Had the worst view of a small dingy courtyard.Internet did not work in this room, had to go to lobby. How much time do you need to spend in a room anyhow though!
Loved the view from the terrace dining, breakfast served here. Also had dinner at hotel, excellent meal, of course you pay a little more for the view. Restaurant staff were super friendly. Hotel staff - some front desk staff were unremarkably present. (napping in the lobby) No "love" here. Bored and bothered. But only SOME. Yes there was your helpful friendly guy too...being fairly self reliant we never bothered the others. Not a budget place but after we were plopped in the Duomo square by our TOMTOM we wanted to stay out of the core. Free parking.
Bus to Florence downtown, 20 minutes and right outside the hotel! NOTE: tickets for bus are sold across the street, buy a return ticket as well. If you just missed the bus in the square, in Florence, walk around the corner, it parks there for about 10 minutes. Fiesole has a great monastery, and some excavated Roman baths and was a great town to stay in! The bar/pub on the corner offers comfort food, pub style fare and the owner is SUPER! Neat place. (Billys on the hill or JJ on the hill?) Great for after a day of sight seeing to kick back and watch the locals fill the square after 9pm.

We arrived here upon my uncle's recommendation. They stayed here a few years ago for 90 euros per night. We were a little surprised to be charge 190 euros per night...

The location is GRAND, with a pub next door, and a bus stop brining you to teh core of florence, just outside the door.

Quiet location.

We ate at the restaurant on our last night, and ordered a side dish of vegetables with our "steak". The food was mediocre, the vegetables never arrived, but they did show up on the bill. My husband was warned about such "omissions" and spotted the "error" on the bill.
Excellent and secure free parking.

I don't know if I would stay here again, not for this price anyways.

The Hotel Aurora is in a magnificent situation overlooking Firenze in the distance and in the small town of Fiesole. Sadly there seems no-one in charge and the staff are dis-connected. There are lots of stairs and no lift. No help with luggage. The food in the restaurant was not good and hardly anyone was eating there (not surprisingly). The plastic chairs were cheap on the terrace. The restaurant and bar do not belong to hotel although on its premises. The pillows were appalling and there was no plug in the basin nor any hotel information in room. The towels were limp and 'past it.' Internet 2 euros per hour (first 30 mins free). Secure car park. Such a shame as it should be good and is in an excellent location for visiting the gardens and villas nearby and the Roman ampitheatre & museum. Breakfast served in gloomy room. There were students studying in some of the rooms on a course (from US).

From the outside you would think the hotel has seen better days, and the reception and public rooms are scarcely better. But the bedrooms are beautiful with frescoed ceilings and the bathrooms have been expensively refurbed. The real glory however is revealed when the shutters of our room were folded back to reveal the most sensational view of Florence and of course it's Duomo, absolutely staggering. The restaurant is not bad and again has wonderful views. Staff were keen to be of assistance
