“Good Hotel at Good Price”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2011

I stayed at Hotel Collodi for one night before flying home. The hotel is close to the Duomo, but on a quiet street. The room had a large spotless bathroom. There was a flat screen TV with CNN and BBC. The twin room had the second bed upstairs, which worked well for me. Because we left early in the morning we did not get to eat breakfast there. We asked for a taxi to pick us up at 5:30am and it was there as scheduled. The price was very good for the location and quality.

“Super friendly and helpful and welcoming staff, very good english.”

They helped us out with questions before we arrived and during our stay.
Languages: owners spoke English at what seemd to be the native level (even though it was not).
AC: not settable from room, got a little warm on some nights
bathroom: good bathroom, fan a bit loud (duct fan, not bathroom fan), but no biggie
wifi: Perfect wifi, one access point per room, no code required
Location: <10mn from train station on foot, very close to Accademia, less than 15mn on foot from most important locations in Florence, including Uffizi.
Breakfast: overall good breakfast (no eggs/bacon), and really good blood orange, as well as good coffee.
Elevator: lift to 2nd floor worked fine, maybe there are higher floors without access, ask before you have heavy luggage you can't take up stairs.
Misc: if you don't get the 50 euro all museum pass (fireze card), owners can get you a reservation for Uffizi and Accademia (you really want one).

Room Tip: elevator may not go to all floors, ask if you have heavy luggage

“Very Nice Hotel”

Florence is a crazy city to drive around and as we approached and got lost we called the hotel and the owner knew where we were and came out to find us and guide us to the hotel. The rooms were very clean, and had sufficient space. The bathrooms were spotless and kept clean throughout our trip. Unlike other Italian places we stayed there was enough room in the shower to mover around and not bump into the wall or door or as my daughters said, "I can actually shave my legs in here!" The included breakfast was a combination of pastry, cereal and yogurt with the all important coffee and with cappuccino running 3 to 4 Euro a cup , it was nice to be able to enjoy my morning coffee without having to go out to a cafe. The hotel was very nice overall and the best part was the helpful and friendliness of the staff. I would recommend this to those looking for a clean and comfortable but not extravagant place to satay within Florence

“The best choice ever”

My family and I spent for nights at the Hotel Collodi, and it was a really wonderful way to enjoy our time in Florence. The hotel is cosy, very clean and and make us feel at home from the first day. Giovanni and Nadine are very helpful and friendly. Service was superb, no complains at all. We had a quadriple suite (for 4 adults and one child) with so much space, that it didn't feel at all cramped or uncomfortable. The location of Hotel Collodi is only a few minutes away from most attractions in Florence wich make this choice even more attractive. For sure, if we decided to go back to Florence, we will stay at Hotel Collodi.

“Great Hotel. Great Staff”

My wife and I stayed at Hotel Collodi in May. My wife had stayed there in '05 and wondered if Giovanni would remember her. He did! I can not say enough good things about Giovanni. He made us feel right at home. Our room was very spacious and clean. Great price too. When we checked out, Giovanni walked outside with us and watched us leave until we turned the corner to the train station. We will stay at Hotel Collodi again.
