I booked two single rooms at this hotel for five nights in late September through an internet company and paid a 10 % deposit to them with the remainder to be paid at the hotel .
On arrival at the hotel just before midnight we were told that there was only one room with a double bed available and would we mind sharing it . As we are both pushing seventy and had never shared a bed , we said no it would not be acceptable . After some hesitation the woman said she could make up two single beds and so we shared a double room for the first night , after which we were given a room each . On leaving we settled the bill to the amount stated on the booknig form for two rooms for five nights and no mention was made of any additional charge s . Imagine my surprise then , when a week later i found on my credit card statement a charge from the hotel for £98.87 . At the moment they are refusing to refund this extra charge , have not given me any justification for it . The hotel is what you might expect for the money , nothing fancy , just about adequate breakfast and not very friendly staff .
Could it be possible that because the booking was made about three months before , they took a chance that we would not turn up and gave our rooms to other people knowing that because we had not cancelled that we would have to pay for the rooms anyhow ?
