“A peculiar place”

We spent some minutes to find the Sani Tourist House after arriving to Dante's house, but the directions provided in their site were good; it's just that the historic center of Firenze is a maze we were not used to. So as we called through the intercom and Remo Sani promptly answered, the heavy front door of the building was unlocked and we entered. The tiny elevator was the next step and we went up (always close the 3 doors!). So now we are on third floor; which door is it? Should be that one on the right; bingo! Ok, so now we meet Remo, a very sympathetic person who shows and explains all about the place in his very meticulous way (the part where he explains how to use each of the 3 keys he gives us is fantastic). Well, then he says he had a problem with the reservation and that for the first of our 3 nights, we would have to sleep in a inferior room, without toilet inside it, but he would make a discount. My wife was not so happy, but what could we do? That first night was not so good, but the next day we moved to room #6 which was much bigger and with good views (just to keep it quirky, the toilet flush in this room worked only if you push the button in a peculiar way).
Overall, we enjoyed the stay here; the breakfast served at the Cantinetta dei Verrazzano was good to start the day, location is perfect, the place is clean, and Mr. Sani is always willing to help. If you are in the spirit of enjoying the city and the atmosphere of Firenze, this is a great place to stay. Don't recommend if you are in a rush or a business trip, definetely!

Room Tip: Room # 6 is very good and spacious.

“Fantastic place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 August 2011

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Sani Tourist House. The rooms were perfect, location excellent, and the owner very kind and helpful. We would definitely be back to this b&b, more so because it is in such a lovely city.

“Great place but spend the extra money for AC”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2011

We stayed at the Sani Tourist House at the end of June. Remo (the owner) offered us an apartment just across the hallway from the B&B for our family of four. It was a great space for us! It had two bedrooms (one with queen bed and one with two twins), two bathrooms, small kitchen area and an eating/living area. It was wonderful to be able to spread out in a large space. The windows in the eating/living space looked out on the duomo and I enjoyed listening to the bells chiming.

The B&B is located right next to Dante's House on a little side street but very close to the main square of Florence so it was easily within walking distance of all the major attractions. The place is a little hard to find because there is just a small sign by a nondescript door, but if you call Remo he'll help.

When you check in Remo will walk through the apartment explaining where everything is and how everything works. I had not read my information very well and was surprised when he said we needed to give him a cash deposit of 150 euros. That was my fault though because it was stated on the form. It was returned when we checked out (after a very quick room check).

All in all, this is a great place but I would give you two warnings. First, we didn't pay the extra 10 euros/night for airconditioning and we really wish we had. Even in June it was hot but we couldn't leave the windows open due to street noise. Even with the windows closed we slept with earplugs though I suspect that thin windows and lots of street noise are a problem anywhere near central Florence.

No breakfast was provided in the apartment but we went to a close by market and picked up things for the meal. That was actually nice because then we could eat whenever it worked for us.

While in Florence be sure to walk to Piazzale Michelangelo for beautiful views of the city! Well worth the trek.

Room Tip: Ask for AC and ask if there any rooms away from the street

“The best location and value in Florence”

Can't understand negative reviews. We stayed one night (2 couples) May 2 and although had a hard time finding the place the owner was very helpful when we called him. Unit located right above Dante's residence square and we could look out of window as walking tours passed the site. Beautiful giant private door to historical building and both our units were very clean and well cared for, with amazing views. Voucher provided for an amazing breakfast. If you want to be right in the middle of Florence, close to Piazza della Repubblica, this is the place. Wished we could have stayed longer.
