We spent some minutes to find the Sani Tourist House after arriving to Dante's house, but the directions provided in their site were good; it's just that the historic center of Firenze is a maze we were not used to. So as we called through the intercom and Remo Sani promptly answered, the heavy front door of the building was unlocked and we entered. The tiny elevator was the next step and we went up (always close the 3 doors!). So now we are on third floor; which door is it? Should be that one on the right; bingo! Ok, so now we meet Remo, a very sympathetic person who shows and explains all about the place in his very meticulous way (the part where he explains how to use each of the 3 keys he gives us is fantastic). Well, then he says he had a problem with the reservation and that for the first of our 3 nights, we would have to sleep in a inferior room, without toilet inside it, but he would make a discount. My wife was not so happy, but what could we do? That first night was not so good, but the next day we moved to room #6 which was much bigger and with good views (just to keep it quirky, the toilet flush in this room worked only if you push the button in a peculiar way).
Overall, we enjoyed the stay here; the breakfast served at the Cantinetta dei Verrazzano was good to start the day, location is perfect, the place is clean, and Mr. Sani is always willing to help. If you are in the spirit of enjoying the city and the atmosphere of Firenze, this is a great place to stay. Don't recommend if you are in a rush or a business trip, definetely!
