We stayed at the Wall Art Hotel on June 27th, 2008 as a part of our 10-day bus tour of Italy.

The hotel is located in Prato, probably about 30 minutes or so outside of Florence. The decor of the hotel is super-modern, which I love. The lobby is below street level, along with the dining room. There are two small elevators to take you up to your room.

The rooms are also very modern, and also very spacious. There was room for the bed, several closets, drawers, and storage units, and a full-sized table with chairs. Having all of this room was super-convenient because this was our second-to-last night in Italy and we needed the space to do our re-packing before we left.

The bathroom was also fairly large in comparison to others we'd seen. The only thing was that the fan seemed to turn on automatically with the light, but stayed on even after the light was turned off. Hmmmm...

Our tour included dinner at the hotel. Unfortunately, this was terrible. The meal started with a serving of lasagna. Then the main entree was potatoes, green beans, and some really rare roast beef. Dessert was creme caramel. After our terrible dinner we decided to walk a little ways in order to find a snack and some soda. We ended up walking a long way and really had no luck. There is nothing around the hotel, or at least nothing that stays open until 9:00pm.

Overall, this was a nice, clean, spacious, and modern hotel.

A really nice hotel for a good price! Rooms were very nice and clean. The only thing I didn't like was the sound from the bathroomfan. Breakfast was good, staff was very friendly. A little bit away from Florence but easy to get there if you travel with a car like we did.

Arrived at the hotel about 6:00 PM, and checked in (lobby is below street level). Desk person did not properly coordinate cards with the door locks, and I was unable to access both the main building door and my room door. Had to make two separate trips back to the lobby to get this straightened out.

Was directed to park under the hotel, but that access was closed (I wonder why the desk didn't know that) and I just left the car out front. The room was OK (I don't particularly care for ultramodern decor) and was comfortable.

Breakfast the next morning was a sham. It was supposed to be an "American" breakfast, but eggs were undercooked, coffee was apparently instant and terrible, and the room was taken over by a large tour group of [--] who were rude and pushy.

Not a pleasant stay, by any means.

We stayed here in June for 4 nights and found the Wall Art Hotel to be great value with excellent (and huge!) rooms.

We booked on Expedia and paid about $120 Canadian a night for a 2 room unit with 2 full baths that slept 4 very comfortably. The room was very clean and modern (think IKEA type furniture and style). The hotel is great for those with a rental car (free parking and relatively easy to find) who want to visit Florence and the Tuscany area.

They say it is a 10 minute walk to the train station in Prato, which has frequent trains to Florence (to avoid driving and parking). I would say it is more like a 15-20 minute walk, unless you're jogging at a fairly fast pace!

We found the breakfast quite good - scrambled eggs with cheese, bacon (not quite cooked), sausuges, yogurts, juices, pastries and a coffee/cappucino machine.

The only drawback I would say is there are no restaurants that are close to the hotel. You have to walk at least 10 minutes to get to the nearest restaurant or grocery store.

Overall, I would recommend this hotel for anyone with a car looking for a clean, reasonably priced hotel with good sized rooms.
