The hotel was ideally situated in Florence, near train, bus, and city attractions. We are not world travelers, but the room smelled of urine, was in need of some TLC, the bed was as hard as a rock, and the staff was anything but friendly. The breakfast was OK, as compared with other Italian hotels in this price class. If you want information about the area you need an English interpreter, because there is only one clerk that can marginally speak the language. I would recommend spending a few more dollars to make your stay more pleasant

Big room, tiny bathroom. Good air conditioning, thin walls. Free internet, creaky floors. Good location, no elevator.
Overall, it is a hotel where the pleasure of your stay depends largely on luck.
If you are spending most of the day out, which by any measure should be the case in florence, then it is a good budget accomodation, especially if you are running late and need to catch a train in the morning; you wont have a long way to go.
Note to everyone, dont get on Alessandro's (the owner or at least manager of the hotel) wrong side. very fiery gentleman when ruffled, but helpful. otherwise, friendly staff.
might want to bring ear plugs if there are kids in the next room.

Hotel Lombardia did not meet our expectations. Small, sparse rooms are fine with us, but our room at Lombardia was old, dirty, and smelled. It was impossible to shower in the bathroom without causing a flood, and, as a result, the bathroom smelled dank. Additionally, several of the lights in our room did not work. The location was convenient - right by the train station - but, other than that, there is no reason to stay here.

Friend and I just left this place. Super shady, super rude and super FILTHY> as soon as we entered our room and closed the door we were greeted by 2 roaches. Living in NYC is one thing, but not for the hotel room I am paying for. We kindly told Alessandro and he told us we had to pay for the room anyway and that it is impossible the rooms are infested. Take it from NYer well-travelled. this place is infested.
