Of all fifty or so hotels I have visited in the past four years, this hotel was easily the worst. Perhaps my view is jaundiced by the fact that I was allocated a ground floor room behind the reception desk. Sadly, the room in the Diana Park had precious little natural light (its windows overlooked a wall) and the sad little out-of-date television in the corner (as well as the bizarre and badly designed chandelier on the ceiling) just served to reiterate how outmoded this place was. In fairness, however, the bathroom was perfectly adequate with a powerful shower.
This is a dormitory-style hotel, about two kilometres away from the centre of Firenze. Apart from the breakfasts (which were fine), there is precious little 'service' in this hotel. When the heavens opened and I asked to borrow an umbrella, the concierge told me that there was only one umbrella available and that that was for his use. (This contrasts unfavourably with the more consumer-oriented attitude in the Relais D'Orologio in Pisa where they have a stand in the porch groaning with the weight of umbrellas for use in wet weather.) Another friend, who asked about printing out her airline ticket in the hotel, was told by the concierge that "Yes" she could print out her ticket. When she asked about the location of the printer in the concierge's office, he told her that she should try one of the many Internet cafes available in the vicinity of the hotel. The concierge is a witty chap, but he would not exactly entice you to visit his hotel for a second time.
For the price of almost 100 Euro, this dormitory-style hotel (which is supposed to be a four star) was expensive and a little but off the beaten track. Not the kind of hotel I would recommend to a friend. Avoid.
