“Home away from Home”

This was a great hotel! I loved the fact that it had a bed and breakfast feel to it. I realize some people may not like that but that is why I agree with another comment made by a traveler that The Lido may not be for everyone. The bathroom was excellent and very clean. I loved the big green window shutters. Very cute place and staff was great! Great location too.

“Just okay........no elevator!”

We stayed here for 2 nights and honestly it was just okay. It wasn't very clean - the ceiling had cobwebs!! There's no elevator so we had to lug our big suitcases up 2 flights of stairs. There was no staff to help. They had about 3 cats hanging out and I'm highly allergic! It's a nice location and the staff was nice but I wouldn't stay here again.

“Just OK--Not for Everyone”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 August 2006

We stayed at the Hotel Lido during our visit to Florence. We've been to various countries in Europe and several cities in Italy, and have had occassion to stay in various types of hotels. For us, it's important to have a clean room with a/c that is centrally located. This one probably rates as one of the worst for our tastes. If you are the type of person for whom central location is important, don't stay here, as it is about a 1/2 hour walk to the Uffizi/Duomo area. There are a few shops and eateries a number of blocks north, but for the most part it's located in a really quiet area. On balance, there is a bus available, but it's not the most practical of solutions to the location problem and you can find a comparable hotel that is closer. In addition, we had problems with our air conditioning not working or having been shut-off, and despite complaints, they never resolved the issue. Sleeping with the windows open created an insect issue, as the hotel is close to the Arno. In addition, there is ongoing construction next door, though we never had any problems with it because we were gone during the day. Also, if you are an early bird breakfast isn't served until 8:00--which can put you behind if you have a packed itinerary. However, the room was clean and the bathroom modern.

“The place to stay in Florence !!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 July 2006

My husband and I visited Florence around the middle of June, we loved our stay at Hotel Lido, the rooms are spacious as well as the bathroom which were extremely clean.

It is well located in Florence . The bus station is only 2 blocks from the Hotel and you can reach downtown in approximately 5 minutes by bus. There are a lot of shops and restaurants within a short distance from the Hotel.

Lucia was incredibly helpful to us, she even made reservations prior to our arrival for Galleria dell'accademia, and for Eurostar trains to Rome and Milan. She's a good professional .

When we return to Florence with our daughter for sure we are coming back to Hotel Lido !!!

“Family Feel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 June 2006

My wife and I spent a week at Hotel Lido and found it very comfortable and in a good location with easy bus access to the centre of Florence, and not too far to walk either. The hotel has a very homely feel and the two sisters in charge were very friendly and gave good advice on places to eat nearby and their English is very good. They were especially helpful when I lost my wallet in downtown Florence. The bathroom was particularly nice with a fantastic all round shower assembly. If we return to Florence we will definitely stay again.
