“Bring the mosquito repellent!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 October 2010

Stayed at the Franchi (pronounced Franky) Hotel with my wife in late September 2010. We arrived at the hotel and the front desk spoke English and our check-in went smooth. Our room was on the 5th floor so as we headed for the elevators, we noticed the elevator doors looking rather small. We were barely able to fit our 2 pieces of luggage and 2 carry-ons into the elevator. My wife and I weren't able to fit with our luggage so as we press the floor number on the elevator, we ran up the stairs to get to our luggage in time. Phew, barely!!!
We enter our hotel room and everything looked very dated. Not much remodeling had been done and we weren't expecting much since this was the similar decor on the exterior of the hotel. Our hotel room did have access to a large balcony but I'm not sure if that was a good thing. As we awoke the next morning, I found about 4 mosquito bites on my left leg alone, several on my arms and a few on my neck. My wife had a similar experience.
I would not stay at this hotel again.

“What a Pit!!!”

This was to be our last night in Florence and wanted to be near the airport. It was, but....the elevator was tiny, it took about 20 minutes for four of us to get to the fourth floor to our rooms. Only one person would fit at a time with two bags!!. The hallways stunk of old cigarette smoke and was very noisy. The bathroom had black mold growing on the walls and ceiling above the shower. The "view" from the balcony was of the back of another building. Don't use this facility if you plan of sightseeing in Florence, quite a ways from the city center. Never again....don't waste your time and money.

“Not as described!”

The hotel is a quiet one near to the airport. It is not in the best neighborhood and does not have any restaurants nearby. We were told to go to one place a few minutes walk away but it didn't exist! Also the room smelled as though someone had JUST finished chain smoking in it and was sweltering. The hotel had not turned on the air conditioning or opened the windows before our arrival. The staff were very polite and friendly. Breakfast is an extra 7 euro per person and is necessary as there isn't anywhere else around to eat at. In order to get to the airport you either have to pay a taxi 12 euro or walk across a major 5 lane highway with no crosswalks. Unless you have a rental car to return I would not recommend staying her as it's far from any restaurants and you cannot safely walk to the airport as the pictures and location imply!

“Far from the crowd, a bit too far away!!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 June 2010

The hotel was nice, cozy, helpful staff, clean and hygienic. Toilets were clean, though small. The breakfast was decent. Free internet on laptop was provided in the room. The only problem was that the hotel was too far away (from Florence standards). Though the connectivity with bus was good, but it took the freedom of coming out of the hotel and on to the streets!

“Great Value and Friendly Staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 May 2010

We were in Florence for 3 days/4 nights. The location is close to the Florence airport but the bus service to the city center was nearby. The room was comfortable and inexpensive, but the most memorable was the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff. They were always willing to help make our stay enjoyable, answering my never-ending questions and even printing out driving directions (albeit in Italian--which he explained) for our drive from Florence--to Pisa--to our next hotel in Rome.
