We stayed at Hotel Franchi (Frankie) on 3 occasions over a week or so due to travelling in and around Florence. We chose it in the first instance as It is very close to the airport with free parking (very handy if you have a car). We went back the other two times due to availability and cost – we found it much cheaper than other hotels in Florence. One reason may be that it is about a 15-20 minute bus journey away from the centre of the city.
We stayed on 3 different floors in different parts of the hotel so I feel that I have a good idea about the consistency of the rooms and service.
The rooms are basic, clean, and have air-conditioning. The ensuite bathrooms are functional and clean. However, there is no consistency to the items in the rooms - one room had the fridge stocked, another had it locked etc. Another seemed more modern or better looked after. The beds and pillows were adequate. As per other reviews, please note the lift is very small and will only fit roughly 1 person and 1 bag at a time. There is free secured Wifi.
Bring earplugs as the window shutters and other hotel noises might disturb a light sleeper.
Breakfast was typical, basic hotel fare and the coffee was acceptable.
The front desk staff speak English and were friendly, and helpful in terms of explaining transport (you can buy bus tickets from them) and arranging a taxi for an early morning run.
I would not stay here if I were holidaying in Florence for any length of time. However, for a short stay it is a perfect no frills, stop-over hotel that does what it says on the tin.
