Comfortable and convenient for my purposes - one night and breakfast. Quite suitable. My room was clean and comfortable. Sheila on reception very welcoming. Loved Florence.

I have to say, I was incredibly shocked that this was rated as a 3* hotel after we arrived. My boyfriend and I had booked this hotel after the company we booked with said it would be a room with a river view, but it wasn't even on the river, and our view was of the building across the road! It was an incredibly noisy hotel, and we could hear people tramping up and down stairs all night, and a toilet flushing sounded like a monsoon! The room was not particularly clean either. We ended up staying for just one night, and moved to the much nicer Hotel Silla a mile down the road on the other side of the river. Now that hotel I would recommend to everyone, but anyone actually wanting to enjoy their trip to Florence should avoid Da Verrazzano like the plague. I agree with everyone who has termed it a 'youth hostel'. Horrid.

The location of this hotel was pretty awful for me, as someone relying on public transportation and walking to get around. I tried to take a bus from the train station to this hotel but got desperately lost and had to walk back to town (the bus station had absolutely no maps available to show where the bus was going, and the bus doesn't actually stop on the same road as the hotel, but a couple blocks away). After that negative experience, I walked into town, a long & hot 35 minutes each way. Another problem was the check-in time of 4 pm, very late in my opinion-- it felt like forever waiting for my room to be ready. The room itself wasn't too bad, and even had a tiny balcony, with a teeny tiny patch of the arno river visible-- but I wouldn't call it a good view and a balcony too small for a chair doesn't make the hotel worth staying at.

Avoid this hotel if you can. We were booked there for one night and probably the worst night in our three week long Europe trip. The room was fairly big compared to other hotels in Europe but like the previous reviewers mentioned, there was no A/C. I was up almost two hours in the night since the A/C was simply blowing hot air. When we called hotel reception, a guy came rubbing his eyes, said that "yes, there is a problem" and walked away. Next day, while checking out (relieved to leave) the lady at the reception mentioned that many people had complained about this the A/C and they will fix it soon!!

The hotel is not close to any restaurant, or bus stop and there is no river view. The staff is polite but does not seem to care for guests ..The hotel round the corner seems much more attractive..

All in all, pay a little more and stay in a hotel with better reviews..or if you can't get your own fan!!
