“A Great Experience”

We were travelling with our 2 teenage daughters and a six year old and our room was a 5 single bed dormitory with a private bathroom. The accommodation was very basic but clean and nice. It is a working convent housed in a beautiful old building surrounded by lovely gardens. The nuns and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. The location was fantastic, only about 500 metres from the Ponte Vecchio and an easy walk into the centre of Florence. A taxi from the train station was only about 8 euros. They provided a basic breakfast and dinner was available at a very reasonable price but there was also great restaurants just outside the convent walls. I would definitely recommend the Casa Santo Nome di Gesu to travellers looking to experience something different.

“Absolute refuge”

I Love this place!!! I stayed for 4 day in September. The staff was helpful and the nuns that worked or spent time around the front desk were absolute treasures! Honestly !!!
Quiet, clean. perfect!!! How they manage to do that a heart's beat away from Santo Spirito and in the piazza of parking I'll never know but it truly is a sanctuary. I will never return to Florence(not my favorite city) but I would love to find a hotel as relaxing as this in every city that I do visit.

Do be aware that there is a curfew. If you plan do be out into the wee hours this won't fit for you.

“Casa Santo Nome di Gesu was outstanding!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 July 2010

We stayed at the Casa Santo Nome di Gesu for 8 nights this summer. The Casa is beautiful with lovely private gardens. Our room was large and immaculate with a bathroom and shower. It was very quiet, as our room overlooked the garden and we had a view of the local church dome in the distance. At night the dome was lit by a spotlight. Amazing! The nuns were wonderful and English was spoken at the front desk. The dining room was beautiful and breakfast was continental and it was a very enjoyable experience. The location of the convent, in the Oltrarno area, was great and we could walk into town easily. There were also many wonderful and inexpensive local restaurants nearby. I highly recommend the Casa.

“Simple, clean, no frills - perfect”

I stayed here by myself (female, mid-twenties, first time to Florence) and this place couldn't be better. It was resonably priced, no frills place to stay that was clean and good location. I could walk everywhere from here. The breakfast was simple but good. The nuns don't speak much English but there are people at the front desk (usually at night) that speak perfect English. Most people staying here were families and couples. There is a curfew at 11pm but I never had a problem because I wasn't here to party.

“clean comfortable convenient”

We found the convent to be good value as the room was a reasonable size and we had our own bathroom, some dont. The breakfast was a basic continental, very acceptable with museli and yoghurt and fresh rolls, coffee and juice. There was bus right outside that took you to the centre of Florence but you could also walk the 15-20 mins and it was a pleasant stroll over the bridge. The only complaint we have is there is a very popular restaurant in the piazza and it has live music and lots of people till quite late so if you are there in the warmer months it is noisy. The bells of the church also are close by and ring quite early. So just because it is a convent dont expect peace and quiet! Lovely garden to sit in and staff are very friendly.
