“Good , but needs renovation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

This is very well located-next to the railway station. The rooms are quite big and the amenities provided are also good enough. Everything about the hotel seemed "average"- but its nt something that you can rave about.
The corridors were musty, a bit damp. The breakfast fare was adequate-but then, service was pathetic...there was hardly any replenishment of the sausages, scrambled eggs or fruits-you need to go and remind them (which is always not very pleasant).
But, given its location-you can walk from the train station to the hotel with your luggage. And then walk around all the sights of Florence.

“Good for overnight stay - close to railway station”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 December 2011

We stayed here for two nights and chose the hotel for its location near to the Santa Maria Novella train station. Not only were we arriving and leaving by train, we also took a day tour that left from the train station, so the location was perfect for that purpose.

Other than that, there was not much that set the hotel apart. The room was small but comfortable, though the decor was not what we were used to. It depends on what you like, I guess, but for us, the furnishing (carpets, wall, upholstery etc) was a bit heavy. Our room was on the first floor and we were fortunate to be able to access the free wi-fi from our room.

From the hotel, we could walk to all the major attractions in Florence. There were a few mini-marts close to the hotel - they stocked mainly alcohol and snacks, which was good enough for us, as we really wanted to buy mineral water. We tried a restaurant close to the hotel but the fish was not fresh - we must have chosen the wrong menu item as the restaurant was quite crowded. Some reviewers have commented that the area was a bit seedy - but we did not really feel threatened, even when there were people loitering around at night.

We have no complaints about the hotel but if we were in Florence again, we would probably try some other hotels.

I was only able to stay for one night, but it has been enough for me to fully recommend this lovely hotel. The building is 14th century and was a convent until about 8 years ago. Hence it has the feel of an elegant home.

It's location is perfect for a visit to Florence.

“Great hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 November 2011

We stayed here for three nights in a twin room. The room was great, very quiet and the bathroom was excellent. The room was very comfortable.
There wasn't wifi in the rooms but you could get it in the public areas so we took our ipads to the bar at night and the bartender who was there every night was fantastic! Very, very friendly. And there were free snacks in the bar every night.
The breakfast was also very good and the waiters there were friendly too.
The location was good we could walk to everything in Florence.
All the staff were very friendly and the rooms were more then comfortable.

“Great stay in Florence”

Very close to the metro, this beautiful hotel in downtown Florence is everything it is cut out to be. Great value for the money. The rooms were very comfortable and quite elegant. The hotel staff were very helpful. Went out of their way to arrange transportation for our group of 6 to Rome. Free continental breakfast in the morning was incredible. A real variery of different dishes. Highly recommend the Hotel Adler Cavalieri
