We stayed here for two nights and chose the hotel for its location near to the Santa Maria Novella train station. Not only were we arriving and leaving by train, we also took a day tour that left from the train station, so the location was perfect for that purpose.
Other than that, there was not much that set the hotel apart. The room was small but comfortable, though the decor was not what we were used to. It depends on what you like, I guess, but for us, the furnishing (carpets, wall, upholstery etc) was a bit heavy. Our room was on the first floor and we were fortunate to be able to access the free wi-fi from our room.
From the hotel, we could walk to all the major attractions in Florence. There were a few mini-marts close to the hotel - they stocked mainly alcohol and snacks, which was good enough for us, as we really wanted to buy mineral water. We tried a restaurant close to the hotel but the fish was not fresh - we must have chosen the wrong menu item as the restaurant was quite crowded. Some reviewers have commented that the area was a bit seedy - but we did not really feel threatened, even when there were people loitering around at night.
We have no complaints about the hotel but if we were in Florence again, we would probably try some other hotels.
