This hotel is everything all the reviewers say it is...a nice play to stay. Yet, most reviews seem to underestimate the walk to the center of Florence. It is a solid 15 minute walk (for fast walkers) to the Ponte Vecchio and at least 10 minutes from there. It is just a bit farther than I would have liked it to have been. My friend and I stayed here for 3 nights. The accommodations were fine, and a bit quirky, as you've seen from pictures and reviews. The shuttle service is convenient, though you must arrange in advance, and my emails prior to arriving at the hotel were not responded to until after our trip, so we had to take a cab to the hotel from the train station (10 euro). We were able to arrange the shuttle service two other days and it was quite nice. I think they'll even drop you near the city center, if you ask. The shuttle seems to leave the hotel once an hour in the mornings and then stops for a few afternoon hours (typical in Italy) and then continues again. The night rates for taxis are higher than during the day, so plan to pay more to cab it home late at night. The breakfast buffet was a highlight. As someone living in Italy now, the American style bacon and eggs were a plus. Now, they weren't the best ever, but this is Italy; I'll take what I can get. A wide variety of things are offered, including gluten-free choices for those who require it.
