“Poor Customer Service.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 January 2012

I need to start this review by noting that I am not picky with hotels at all. All I expect is a plain room that is quiet, I don't expect a designer room or for anyone to go above and beyond for me. Having said that, I was very disappointed with the customer service in this hotel. I had stayed at this hotel before, and this was my second time. At around 9PM a gentlemen showed up to do some construction work directly outside our room, which was located on the 5th floor. My girlfriend and I both thought that it must be a quick repair job and the noise would stop eventually. Unfortunately, this was not the case and the construction continued until at least 11:30pm. Some might think that this is not a big deal, but when you have to be up at 5AM for an early train, it is a huge bother. Providing a quiet room should be one of the basic things a hotel does, and this hotel failed.

In the morning when I brought the situation up with the person working the front desk, I was told that he did not hear anything. This was wonderful news, as I was assured that this particular employee had a restful night and would then be able to provide some sort of compensation, or at least an apology. Again, not the case. I explained to him that our room was on the 5th floor, and that he, being on the 1st floor, would probably not have heard anything. I was told again that they did not have any repair or construction works going on. At this point we simply had to leave to catch our train. I told the employee that I would be writing a negative review, and here it is. I hope that he then proceeded to go up to the 5th floor to take a look at the mini construction site outside our room, but this is wishful thinking.

In short, this hotel is okay, the location and rooms reviewed separately would probably receive at least 4 stars. However, being implicitly called a liar at 6am after an un-restful night is simply insulting. I can therefore not recommend this hotel. You can probably find better.

Room Tip: Do not book their triple rooms.

“Very convenient to train station”

Our room was very nice. Not a 5 star but for the price it was excellent. We walked from train station, felt safe, great restaurant next door also. Service was fantastic and food amazing. We walked all over Florence with no problems at all. Highly recommend. Also emailed before we arrived with a few requests and all were met.

“perfect location and awesome breakfast!”

I was studying abroad for four months in Florence and my family was coming to visit/pick me up and spent a month looking for a hotel for us to stay that was both convenient for showing them the city as well as traveling from the train station. This was the best hotel I found for approximately 90 US dollars a night for a 4 bed room. The photos provided by the hotel are very accurate of how the rooms look and the people at the front desk are very ncie and helpful! The breakfast was fantastic since Italy doesn't believe in breakfast the hotel does a good job in that! toast, eggs, yogurt, frsh fruit, coffee and juice machines, pastries galore, BUTTER!. Overall the stay was great and in a very convenient location if you will be using the trains at all! The only thing would be the wifi which is kind of sketchy but the staff will help you if there are any problems! :)

“Not bad but sketchy neighborhood”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 December 2011

The location of this hotel is directly beside the train station, so you can hear the trains all night and it's also kinda sketchy neighborhood. Lot's of homeless people.
It's a decent (but not overly uncomfortable) walk to any sights. The room was very stuffy and always felt like the heater was on, although the hotel said it was not. The room was clean in the "as long as you dont REALLY look at it" way. Once we actually started looking around we saw foot prints on the walls. literally.

Pro's:
Decent breakfast in the morning, and the hotel had a lift, internet center, and free wifi. The easy walk to the train station was nice when we were coming/leaving Florence, although at night we were worried about being robbed.

Dear Guest,
We thank you for the time spent to write your experience in our hotel. It is very important for us in order to improve our service.
We are very sorry that your staying at the Delle Nazioni didn't satisfy your expectations but we wonder whether your review was really addressed to us or may be you have mistaken yourself with another hotel.
You wrote that you heard trains all night: we would like to inform you that Santa Maria Novella Central Train Station and tramvia stop at midnight and they restart in the morning.
Florence is a quiet town moreover our hotel is surrounded by two police station ( one is inside the train station the other one is close by the hotel).
You met homeless people in the night but not so many as in other cities: we consider them unlucky not dangerous.
Hoping to welcoming You again in our Hotel, in order to prove you the better of our services and the best Florence,
Best regards

“Easy to find, close to station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 December 2011

It is about 100 yards from the train station just past the small parking lot entrance. Good breakfast buffet, including scrambled eggs and granola. Staff speak excellent English. Rooms are average size. The newly renovated one on the 2nd floor had a great shower but poor mattresses. The rooms on the 3rd and 4th floors from 2 earlier visits had better beds but older showers. Lots of hot water. Rooms warm in December and early November. All rooms were quiet.
Prices are better if you reserve on the internet. They have some good deals for 2 and 3 day stays.
Good little grocery store between the station and hotel. (across the street from the hotel)
We found the restaurant in the station was basic but good, and did not break the bank. Handy to stop at near the end of the day.
