It was my first time in Florence, and I wanted a special experience to reflect the beauty and history of this Rennisance hub. The room itself was large and comfortable, with easy access to the rooftop sitting area and its view of central Florence. What I found most intriguing was the archictecture, expecially when we went to breakfast in the elaborate public dining room. The floor to ceiling windows and chandilers created breathtaking ambience, although the selections were basic.

I stayed at the Martelli in October 2011 after a previous stay in 2009. As the other reviews state some of the staff are unfriendly and make you feel unwelcome. However, the decor is interesting and attractive. My room was clean and adequate. The bathroom had been refurbished and was clean. I could not get a hot shower but the water from the basin was hot. The TV was fine but there are no teamaking facilities.

Breakfast is average - the rolls seemed to be a day old and there are no selection of teas. The cushions on the chairs were removed for washing. Quite bizarre and quite uncomfortable as the chair seats are formed of metal strips

This hotel is so convenient for the rail and coach station and the Duomo area that I can overlook its faults but definately improvements could be made.

The hotel is in a very handy location to the railway station and the centre of town. We received a pretty hostile reception when we arrived which continued throughout our stay. Staff were not helpful at all. The rooms were adequate but the TV was out of the 60's and had poor reception. Wifi was available at 16 Euro per day!! so we went to a WIND telephone shop and bought a sim card with 50 hours free access for 20 Euro. No safe in room. Breakfast was adequate but not served with a smile.

Room was dark and unclean, TV and phone didn't work. Bathroom was not only too small but awkward to use. Staff are very unfriendly. Never recommend if you want to have a comfortable trip.
