“Super Modern hotel very near Train Station”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

This hotel has super modern rooms with multi lighted ceilings that change every few seconds. They have very clean, large bathrooms with toilets, bidets, large showers, and other amenities that are not often found in many other hotels in Europe. The location is directly across the street from the train station and it is a short walk to the main tourist attractions that Florence has to offer. Staff interaction is minimal but the front desk is friendly and multi-lingual. Paid 78 Euro per night but hotel has a mandatory 6 euro city fee they add on as well.

“Cracking location, good value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2011

The hotel is situated directly outside Santa Maria Novella train station and also where the main airport bus services drop off. The short 5-10 minute walk to the cities main attractions make this an ideal location for a stay in Florence.

Originally we were located in the hotel's annexe which is located around the corner on the street behind the hotel. The street it is located on is a bit dodgy. The rooms here were a fair size and there was a large terrace outside, which I felt was excellent value considering the cheap price which we had paid to stay there. However, the light switch in our bathroom was not working, I then went to the reception and they immediately offered to upgrade our room to a 'Delluxe' room in the main building for our 6 night stay at no extra cost.

The Deluxe room was situated on the third floor of the main building, it was a lot bigger and spotlessly tidy clean. The bathroom was nice and spacious. If I were to stay at the hotel again, I would definitely pay the extra to stay in a Deluxe room. Although the Annexe rooms certainly are adequate for those of us travelling on a budget, the Deluxe rooms are much nicer and worth the extra few euro's per night.

The breakfast was served between 7.30 and 10pm and was very nice. It contained the usual croissants, bread rolls, ham, cheese, tea, coffee, cereals:- the ideal preparation for a hard days sightseeing.

The hotel was undergoing renovation works during our stay which meant there was a bit of noise when on the odd occasion we were in the hotel during the day time, but by the looks of what the builders are doing it will look very nice once they have finished.

All in all I found our stay at the hotel a very pleasent experience, If we ever return to Florence we would most defonitely consider staying there again.

Room Tip: Ensure you book a room in the main building, not the annexe.

“Good location near railway station”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 October 2011

The hotel is positioned quite close to the main railway station for those with luggage and travelling by train. It is close (within easy walking distance) to all of the main attractions of Florence. We had a room on the third floor which was quite spacious with a large bathroom.
The hotel was undergoing renovations at the time we were there (October 2011) but this did not affect us either by noise or inconvenience. Breakfast was included and available in a room beside reception on the ground floor. Free WiFi in room. Staff were friendly and helpful and the room were clean.

“Perfect Location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

There is a fantastic restaurant one street away (Via della Scala). If you are standing in front of the station looking away from the hotel the street one block back. It had a few restaurants, one in particular, with out door seating has fantastic food and even states on their menu 'the price you see is the price you pay'. There were plenty of locals eating at the restaurant as well.

The hotel is across the road from the SMN train station. Reception is on the ground floor and the rooms are on the third floor.

We were given a room fronting onto the street, which were surprising quiet given the proximity to traffic.

The rooms are adequate. Ok as a base, however nothing special. There was rubbish in the bins in our room, so that had clearly not been removed. The cleaning had not been done to a high standard at all. It was not filthy, however would not class it as clean either.

As other reviews have stated the hotel is under going a refurbishment so the hallway is quite a mess and there are workmen around. We were not warned of this upon check in so it came as quite a shock.

Breakfast was standard European Coffee, juice, meat, cheese, pastries, cereal, and yoghurt.

We paid around €60 for a double room including breakfast. For this price it was fine, could overlook the building work, and the level of cleanliness offered due to the location of the hotel. Upon check-in we were told that the room were in generally goes for €140 per night. If we had paid that we would have been extremely disappointed.

If you get a good price and are using the room only as a base then this could be ok. If you are holidaying and expect to spend any time in your room other than sleeping look elsewhere.
