“If you want to be mugged....”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 July 2010

We came to Florence from Rapallo. The moment we entered the city, we did not like it at all. Sea and sun, was the thing that we were missing. But since it was late and we already checked in at the hotel, we decided to stay.

The hotel is not located in the heart of Florence, although it is in a walking distance from the train station and 10-15 min walk from Duomo.

We parked our car right next to the hotel and got a very nice suprise the next morning when our car radio got stolen. We did want to stay in Florence one more night as we were missing the Riviera.

The hotel in its self seemed to be dead, and nothing in comparison to Hotel Gulio Cesar in Rapallo. It had airconditionning, which started working after a night, the bathroom was miserably small, there was no view from the room what so ever and the reception was not really helpful. We asked for internet connection, but apparantly it only worked in the reception.

In overall, a miserable stay. The service staff in the breakfast buffet was however nice and welcoming.

If you go there with a car, watch out to not leave anything in there.

“A family run, family friendly hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 July 2010

The hotel is situated at the end of Via Nationale which is about a 15 minute walk from the main Maria Novella station. We did infact take a taxi costing E8.50 to the hotel on our arrival at the station but we could quite easily have walked. The hotel staff were very friendly and were willing to accomodate us in any way possible. The rooms were clean, tidy, of a good standard, we had a room which accomodated the four of us this included a large double bed, a single bed and a very comfortable camp bed. There was plenty of space for what can only be described as 4 adults. There was a good standrad of ensuite facilities which were very clean with lots of towels which were changed daily. The breakfast was 'typical' continental breakfast and was more than adequate. The hotel itself was quiet and in a 'nice' area, it did however, require us to make a 10/15 minute walk into the central area of Florence (Duomo, restaurants, bars etc) which when the weather was a sweltering 37 degrees was at times a little uncomfortable. Florence itself is worth a visit although we were there on the occasion of a family wedding ( a truley magical experience) and Hotel Bonifacio was recommended to us, it did live up to it's recomendation!

“Charming, if a little out of the way”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 December 2009

My family spent two nights in the quadruple room at the Hotel Bonifacio. For a quadruple room, the room was tight. The Hotel is not particularly centrally located: as noted on their website, the hotel is a fifteen minute walk from the train station. In fact, it's also a fifteen minute walk from most sights, although that wasn't a significant problem. (Florence is fairly easy to navigate.) The staff was exceedingly friendly and helpful, and made museum reservations as needed.

“Nice Hotel, Good Location”

I stayed here with my wife and parents this past January and we were very pleased. We were able to get a quad room for a good price and weren't disappointed. It's within walking distance of the train station (we walked there and took a cab back the next morning) and there are some good restaurants pretty close by. The staff was very helpful and gave us recommendations as to where to eat. The room wasn't anything spectacular, but was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. The area is safe and convenient to all of the major tourist attractions, and we were able to walk to everything we went to see. The breakfast was also good. My aunt stayed here a few months before us and had a similarly positive experience. She's actually staying there again as I write this. So, all in all, I'd stay here again and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reasonably priced hotel that delivered on all of the necessities.

“Big Surprise!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 March 2009

After a bad experience in another location, it was pure luck to find this hotel. The rooms were spacious and the evenings were quiet, with our room overlooking a quiet residential area. The breakfast buffet was more than adaquate and the staff very helpful.
