Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to anyone travelling to Florence. We're hoping to return for our anniversary and are hoping to be able to book it again. If I could give a 4.5, I would.
I'll start with the positive. The location was absolutely perfect. We were only a five minute walk from the train station, making it super easy to meet up with tour guides, find a cab, and catch the train. We could get across the river and to the top of Michaelangelo's Piazza in about 30 minutes, and only had to walk about 5 minutes to get to the Duomo, 10 max to get to the Uffizi. The WiFi was free, we just got our own username and password and were good to go, which helped with finding restaurants nearby and other tourist info. The room we had was beautiful, very large, facing the street and had a real bathroom that two people could get ready in. The free breakfast was great, also, although maybe a bit lacking. More than enough to get you started for the day, though.
As for the negative, there were only a couple of things, and all of which are fairly unavoidable in an old hotel in an old city. For one, the lift was teensy. We don't mind walking up a few flights of stairs to get to our room, but for some, this might be tough. It was perfect, though, if you wanted to just throw your bags in and send them up to meet you on your floor. The only other drawback was the thin walls. It literally sounded as though everything in the rooms around you was going on in your room. However, after being out and about all day every day, falling asleep generally wasn't an issue.
