This is barely a one star hotel and is more comparable to a hostel. We were already booked, but arrived earlier and decided to stay at the same hotel instead of having to change locations. The room was a double which the front desk had not registered. Jean Carlo insisted it was a single even when we showed him the paid reservation. I still have doubts we were given a double as the bed took up 99% of the space. Everything was worn out including the small rug on the hardwood floors. The lock on the window covering did not work so light peeped in the am. Pillows, towels and sheets were see-through thin. The water kept running hot and cold. We asked Jean Carlo to not have housekeeping come and clean our room during the stay. He didn’t relay the message the first day.
The noise from the street was horrific from the horns honking and people yelling. A bus stop is located in front of the hotel so buses are coming and going; we also had trash removal and street cleaning that continued for hours in the early morning.
We asked a couple different nights for restaurant suggestions and two different individuals gave us the same information. One recommendation was alright; the other not so much. The good thing is the front desk was able to reserve museum reservations so we saved a few euros as there were no lines at this time or year. The buffet breakfast consists of the usual fare of meat, cheese, hard boiled eggs, fresh fruits, pastries and beverages. The buffet is nothing special, but was better than expected when compared to the rest of the experience.
Upon leaving, we asked Jean Carlo to reserve a taxi for the next day departure. He advised us of a potential taxi strike and stated he would know more information after midnight. We tried to get on the internet in the room to find alternative airport transportation, but had to go down to the lobby. We gave him our phone # as he said he would inform us. He never called; we found out his shift had ended at 11 pm. The individual who took over the shift ended up making us reservations with no problem.
