Reading the reviews online after havin prepaid for the stay, I was dreading the visit. The hotel is quite a walk through the ancient paved streets which are very narrow to walk on. Dragging bags through the winding street from the Smn station seems like forever. It is about 300meters from the Forteza de basso which was convenient. The flea market and the duomo are a short 15 minute walk through thinner streets.
The receptionist was a mix of polite and rude representatives. Simple difficulty in understanding them was met with impatient grunts and sighs. Very odd for a normal hotel in the hospitality industry.
The rooms are very average. Although, there is plenty of hot water flowing unlike what someone mentioned in a previous review . The tv is ancient and no cable. What is viewed is also unclear and totally dis functional. Despite staying for 3 nights I was given a room facing the rear with an inner wall duct for ventilation . While checking out I noticed beautiful sunshine on the other side but strangely was not offered to me.
Overall, Florence hotels I reckon are ancient but when paying almost €90 per night, you expect better rooms. The breakfast room was cold. No, one spoke English which meant we had to guess for basics. Lots of sweet cakes etc , wish they had eggs also on all days. I got boiled eggs only on the third day of breakfast.
The hotel has a small peaceful client which will be nice to use when the weather is not so cold.
