“four star? Well I think that two fits better...”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

Fortunately I've spent only one night in this hotel (the last!) together with my girlfriend. I wonder how it can be possible to assign four stars to this bad hotel.

First of all the external: the building is old and not maintained, it seems that since it was built it has not been handled.
The reception is quite acceptable (but not for a four star hotel!) and when we started to go to the room (by stairs, our choice) we noticed that the moquet was dirty and old.
but fortunately we did not have to sleep on the stairs!
We opened the door of the room and the first comment was that it was little and poor in terms of comfort. Not so bad (but not for a four star hotel!) since we discovered "The Bathroom".... I've never seen a bathroom like that...it is not possible to stay there in two, at least that one doesn't stay in the bathtube! Also the sanitary ware looked like the seventies, and it is impossible, due to the dimentions of the place, to have some privacy there! Another bad aspect was the "terrace": less than a half square meter and if you leave the tent open, the neighbour can share his TV with you.
The breakfast was very very poor and of low quality in a lounge that is located underground.
Finally do not go there if you are looking for a four stars hotel, go there if you are looking for a two star but prepare yourself to spent at least twice!

“The Best Roof Top Deck!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 July 2011

The secret is the roof top deck. We stopped by stores and the market and bought supplies for picnic dinners. You can watch the sunset over Florence and eat your fill of meat, cheese, and wine!

Room Tip: Asked to be roomed away from the soccer fields across the Arno. The games are very, very loud!

“A nightmare!!! Miguelangelo was born there and it has been the same still”

I am in the travel business since 1970, that means 41 years travelling a lot.
I never been guest and that kind of hotel. Horrible in all aspects. Since that I never use the same tour operator in Europe that booked us in that depressing hotel.
I wonder who gave 4 falling stars to that place????

“terrible service, terrible hotel.”

i recently stayed at this hotel the colombus florence. it was recommended through ich group hotels which normally have good room rates and good quality.

The hotel staff are possibly the worst ive ever come across, every minor request was a massive struggle for them e.g can I check in? or can you pass me my key. The lady on reception was rude. Language barrier was not a problem as the staff tend to communicate more with grunting disapproving noises instead of attempting to even look you in the eye. There was an old guy working in the restaurant who was happy and cheerful. But that was it.

Breakfast was a joke, with only 1 of the 4 mornings delivering fresh bread. As there was only a few people staying at the hotel food was kept and kept, and ...kept! and considering bread was the only thing on offer that was a shame.

Lots of school trips seemed to be staying which are understandably noisy which I didnt have a problem with, but one day I went and spoke to reception and asked that maybe at 3am something could be done to have some quiet time but as usual i was met with a shrug of shoulders from the person working there.

its a good walk to the city centre but very nice along the river if you manage a 30 minute walk or 12 euro in a cab.

Faulty towers would not compare to this place.

It's durty, noisy and not well keeped. The breakfast is very poor and the distance to the center off Florence is more than 2 km.
