i recently stayed at this hotel the colombus florence. it was recommended through ich group hotels which normally have good room rates and good quality.
The hotel staff are possibly the worst ive ever come across, every minor request was a massive struggle for them e.g can I check in? or can you pass me my key. The lady on reception was rude. Language barrier was not a problem as the staff tend to communicate more with grunting disapproving noises instead of attempting to even look you in the eye. There was an old guy working in the restaurant who was happy and cheerful. But that was it.
Breakfast was a joke, with only 1 of the 4 mornings delivering fresh bread. As there was only a few people staying at the hotel food was kept and kept, and ...kept! and considering bread was the only thing on offer that was a shame.
Lots of school trips seemed to be staying which are understandably noisy which I didnt have a problem with, but one day I went and spoke to reception and asked that maybe at 3am something could be done to have some quiet time but as usual i was met with a shrug of shoulders from the person working there.
its a good walk to the city centre but very nice along the river if you manage a 30 minute walk or 12 euro in a cab.
Faulty towers would not compare to this place.
