“Home Away from Home”

My 21 year old daughter and I had the pleasure of staying at the Hotel Liana and the beginning and end of our brief trip through Italy. We found it to be just far enough away from the center of the city to be quaint, quiet, and homey.
It was CLEAN and the rooms were comfortable and well furnished.
Breakfast was abundant with a large variety of foods.
Best of all was the helpful staff. They were accommodating and patient with us, as we asked a myriad of questions.
Laerte was cheerful at the reception desk and gave us delicious dining advice!

Room Tip: Our 2nd room had a small balcony and it over looked the courtyard. It was quieter than our room that...

“A few criticisms”

We stayed at this hotel on 16th & 17th October and then again 22nd October. Yes this hotel isn't bad but we did have some criticisms.

For the two day stay we had not been told that in order to warm our room, on the first floor, you had to lift a panel on the radiator and increase the heating by turning a dial; this was not obvious given there was in the room an air conditioning controller. In the room we were given on 22nd the heating did not work and the man at the front desk had to roll into the room an old portable electric radiator. All hotels should check regularly that the room's facilities are in working order.

The two rooms we were allocated were nothing special and one might say somewhat drab. There was mould evident in both shower areas. The room given to us on the 22nd October had a partition wall to accomodate the shower and toilet and it rather looked as if it was some badly designed afterthought. The room was also adjacent to a somewhat busy street.and thus very noisy. We had to get assistance to close the outer shutter but still we needed to use earplugs to get to sleep.

The breakfast was OK but nothing special.

Be warned this hotel is some way out of the city centre.

The place to us had a feeling of having seen better times.

Room Tip: We are told rooms on the ground floor are the best but the one night stay didn't support this.d

“Brilliant time in Florence”

We have just spent three nights in Florence at Hotel Villa Liana. We had a wonderful stay. The hotel is very beautiful inside, with frescos on the ceilings and antique furniture. The bathroom was clean and roomy. We had a small balcony looking out into the garden. Possibly the most comfortable bed ever!

The breakfast was lovely with a lot of variety each morning. The staff were very helpful. We would definitely recommend the hotel to others.

5 mins from the synagogue and archaeological museum, 10 mins from Santa Croce and 15mins to the Duomo and San Lorenzo.

Do climb the dome of the Duomo, the view is spectacular. Buy a Firenze card, it costs 50euro but allows entry to all the museums on Florence and you don't need to prebook tickets for the Uffizi, you go to the front of the queue so well worth it!

“Fantastic stay, lived up to expectations.”

My partner and I stayed at the Hotel Liana for 4 nights (we've just come home) and had an absolutely fantastic stay. The staff were really helpful, particularly the (assuming manager) who was there on arrival. He was really helpful with carrying suitcases and suggesting places to eat locally. It was an anniversary trip and we had a bottle of prosecco waiting for us on arrival.

Our room was beautiful, the fresco on the ceiling was amazing. We were lucky enough to have a balcony off our room as well. The street was pretty quiet compared to some of the others in Florence and noise was no problem. The style of the hotel was so authentic and was full of really intereseing furniture and bits. Internet connection was brilliant and available from the room.

We would thoroughly recommend the hotel, what you get for your money is fantastic. The only down side is no lift- but with such an old building you couldn't really expect one.

The walk into town was something we were concerned with before arriving, but it's very easy and you get to see a bit of Florence on your way in!

All in all, a beautiful hotel- we would definately stay at Villa Liana if we were to return to Florence.

Room Tip: We had room 25 (standard double)- the room featured on the websites main page- definately recommend...

“Hotel with personality ..”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

What can I say ..... our stay at Villa Liana was very nice, very different to any where that I have stayed before as it had character. Lots of mix and match furniture and orniments filling the rooms, dinning room and areas throughout the hotel which is what gave it that originallity! I must say it was very clean and the staff were helpful and the breadfast was very nice with a selection of breads, cereals, fruit, jams and teas. All very nice. The bed however was extremely hard and uncomfortable but after expressing this to the owner she did something about this to make my stay more comfortable. I also found that the shutters, wardrobe and bathroom doors and drawers were difficult to open and close quietly making the use of these a bit of a nightmare! The hotel is just of a main road so having the window open made it a little noisey. The 15/20min walk to the centre was not too bad apart from the cobbled roads and footpaths. With a bus stop just round the corner we did venture into the different areas of Florence which was easy to do - buy a but map first! Overall thought a good stay.

Room Tip: First floor, as there is no lift.
