“Great location, beautiful hotel!”

We recently stayed at Hotel La Scaletta and absolutely loved the location at the end of Ponte Vecchio. We liked not having to walk far in the evening after dinner, and being so close to Ponte Vecchio. The hotel is beautiful inside, clean, the staff was always helpful and accommodating, the rooms simple but nice dark wood antique furniture. The highlight of our stay was hearing the church bells from our window, and the beautiful view....it was magical! Breakfast was plentiful and we enjoyed it.Be sure to check out the rooftop area, the view is spectacular! We didn't make use of their restaurant, but will definitely stay here again next time we visit Florence!

“Convenient, comfortable, and efficient. A very pleasant stay.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

We chose the Purple Suite, and got a good low season rate. The suite is modern, very pleasant and well designed, and is on a lower level of the building compared to the level of reception and breakfast room. There are also a wide variety of other sizes and prices of rooms available. The location is very convenient to the sites in the Centro area. No need for a car here, in fact your visit will be easier without a car. The staff is very helpful and friendly, and speak excellent English. The rooftop terrace is a lovely feature. We recommend this hotel and will stay there again next trip.

Room Tip: The rooms face a variety of directions, so if you want a view, be sure to reserve a room listed as h...

Very nice old hotel, very big, spacious room. Our room was actually a suite, big bathroom and two large rooms. We were on an upper floor and it was quiet, no street noise. That particular room, and others, are a little difficult to reach, lots of going up and down narrow stairs, which makes it difficult with heavy suitcases. But if you can handle that, it's really nice. They have a nice breakfast, free internet and a lovely rooftop restaurant with a great view of the city. Staff is helpful. It's centrally located, a short walk to the Ponte Vecchio, Uffizi and the major sights, but sort of on the fringe before you hit all the crowds. The Palazzo Pitti is on the next block. Many restaurants and boutiques in the immediate area. When you exit the hotel, all the major stuff is to the right, but if you go to the left, you'll find quieter, less-traveled back streets, with many picturesque shops and cafes. A small cafe with a courtyard is tucked away in an alley across the street, with a good, cheap breakfast.

Room Tip: Higher up is quieter, away from street noise, but stairs may be difficult for some, especially with...

we stayed at la scaletta in november 2011 but it wasn't the first time we stayed there. la scaletta is located near palazzo pitti and very close to the centre. we were offered a a very friendly service and everyone was helpful. the rooms very cosy comfortable and clean. the roof area is wonderful with a lovely view. lots of good restaurants nearby. we travelled with an infant and we had no problems. we left our child's blanket at the hotel and the staff were gentle enough to send it back home.

We visited Florence in July 2011, and stayed at LaScaletta for three nights...it was absolutely an amazing hotel. The service, the food, the rooms, the location were all fabulous.
We had actually booked another hotel for our stay, but received notice of it's closure; so, we ended up here, and it was well worth it. The food at the Terrace Restaurant was one of our best meals on our entire trip ! The staff, especially the waitresses, were so welcoming and certainly made our stay more enjoyable. We will definately stay here again !!

Room Tip: The hotel is in an area that is closed off to vehicle traffic; this might help someone planning to d...
