2 adults & 2 young children (3 & 9 months). The check in process is frustrating, having to go to Hotel De Lanzi - MORE than just a few steps from the property. We buzzed at the front door of the Apartments and a man from the hotel came and helped us with our luggage up the stairs to the lift (which only fits 3 people). The room looked great with all the facilities required to house the 4 of us including dishwasher & washing machine, a mezzanine bedroom well stocked kitchenette. Then at check in was told we were in the wrong room. The room we were moved to (in number 4 building) was smaller, had a poor excuse for a kitchenette that was missing cutlery, bowls and basic cooking utensils. There was no dishwasher - which is fine except the kitchen sink didn't have a plug!
The man at reception on the first day was very sympathetic and his English was excellent however he was unauthorised to move us and suggested we come back the next morning to speak with the director. She was quite blunt with me, blamed me for giving the wrong name for the room mix up. I said I would prefer the type of room we saw initially and she said this was only for 2 people, that NO rooms for 4 people had a washing machine in them. Does that make sense? We listed the missing items and to their credit they were quickly replaced, except that the plug for the sink didn't fit. She was also helpful in locating a laundromat & supermarket for us.
Our nine month old collected lots of black hairs whilst crawling around the apartment.
The location is remarkable, with all of Florence's attractions easily reached on foot. The Piazza Della Republica has plenty of restaurants to choose from including the famous Gillis.
The place was less than what we would expect for a self catering city apartment and for over 200 euros per night represented very poor value for money.
