“Do NOT stay here!!!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 September 2011

By far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in! And I travel quite a bit. Im very shocked having just checked their website, to find very nice photographs of this hotel, showing a very clean and tidy place. THEY ARE NOT GENUINE!!! The hotel does not look like this now (we visited 3 weeks ago). The hotel now, is very different believe me!

To start with, when we arrived, we could not go up to our room for nearly an hour, because the electricity suddenly cut out when we arrived, and we could not check in, and also the lift had stopped inbetween floors! There was no air conditioning in the room, although there was a vent that claimed to be air conditioning in the wall. However all this did was pump out warm air! The man at reception informed us that the air conditioning "probably would not work today" as the electricity had cut out, however it would be working the following day (this however did not happen, and it became quite clear that the air conditioning in fact didnt work at all!) We were given a fan instead, which had literally no power at all. So made absolutely no difference. The room itself was an absolute joke! It was so small we could just about walk around the bed (two single beds pushed together!!!!) and the matresses were very uncomfortable! The bathroom was disgusting too. It was smelly and damp, the "shower" was pathetic and the bath itself was very small, and awkward to stand in because it was one of those very old ones, which are designed for people to sit down in and shower that way. There wasnt even a shower curtain! So of course everytime we showered we could not help but completely soak the floor! How this can be classed as 3 stars, I do not know.

A very bad experience, and such a shame because it is a lovely place to visit. However, this did affect our time there.

“Renovation necessary”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 18 September 2011

Our first problem on arriving at this hotel was that there is no place to park and drop off your suitcases. We stopped in an area that was prohibited and waited for an employee from a nearby garage (service offered by the hotel staff) to come for the car. Rather expensive compared to other European cities - 24 euros a night.
The employee at the desk informed us that the air conditioning was broken but they were fixing it. We stayed for three nights and no air conditioning and no workmen seen. A fan was put into our room.
The room was very large and the bathroom seemed to be a bit more modern. Our room had a huge terrace which was never cleaned (evidence the ashtray they provided had a cigarette butt when we arrived and when we left) and which needed a new paint job. The wallpaper in the room was peeling off in some parts.
Very nice restaurant right across the street and they give you a discount card from the hotel.
When our car was returned to us the person from the garage said that it sounded to him like the bettery was low (the car is 1 yr. old). When we got in the car the heat under the front seats was on, the clock had been stopped and then running again for 23 minutes and all of the radio stations had been lost. Very strange.

“Reasonably priced location in the center”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 August 2011

If you don't want to spend much money, because you're spent most of the time outside of the hotel, this hotel is a good option. It is in the city centre.
Rooms are oke, clean (but not the most clean location), breakfast is a buffet with enough choice.

“Decent place for the price”

The hotel probably needs some renovation but otherwise was fine. The front office staff were very helpful and went out of their way to make things more pleasant.
Having originally been placed into a room where one of the beds was broken, they immediately profusely apologised and changed rooms to a much bigger and nicer room at no extra charge.
Location is fine, would consider staying here again.
