During our accommondation in Golden Tulip Hotel THIEVES entered into our room when we were sleeping and stole all our money. The hotel had neither cameras nor security. To make matters worse, we could not find somebody in the hotel speaking English in order to report it to the police. Even the receptionist didn't speak English. Our vacation in Italy were destroyed after that and we had no money to go back to our country.

Stayed here the night before departure to ensure ease of making a 7 am flight. It was quiet, good AC, lovely bathroom - all very clean. The bartender was congenial and gave snacks with generous pours. Excellent drink values and overall room value. There were two tour groups (Spain and Japan) who had set menus in the restaurant, but almost everything we ordered was unavailable. If you don't eat at the hotel, there is little available except more hotels in an area of busy, confusing streets. The food was good, and we would give them the benefit of the doubt since the embarrassed waitstaff was struggling. We do speak Italian, so there was not confusion about we asked/got. We would stay there again.

the outskirts of florence are grotty. no where to go in evenings, but this was not a problem as we used it as a base to go into florence and it is easier to drive to a hotel outside. bus is quick into centre. hotel is not 4*, the food is appalling as is the furniture and decore. as there is no where else to go you have to pay the going rate (which is expensive in italy) for bad food. rooms ok, but every time anyone flused their loo, the noise was very load, resonating through the vents for the air con, which were huge and old. would rather drive further into city for better hotel. staff were helpful and knowldedable.

I stayed here last year over New Year's. While it is close to a bus that takes about 20 minutes to reach the city center, there is absolutely nothing of interest in the area. There were hardly any restaurants in the area. Also, when you ride the bus into town, the bus stops at the Santa Maria Novella Station which can get a little seedy at night. You will undoubtedly have to return here at night to catch a bus back to your hotel, so be careful.

I can't really fault the hotel, though, as the rooms were OK and the service was fine. I remember the lobby staff to be quite helpful, and the bartender was very fun hang out with. The rooms had enough space and the bathroom was quite nice. I didn't think it was too loud, but by the end of a long day in Florence we would sleep through anything.

I would recommend this hotel if you want to stay close to the Peretola airport or if you find the rooms to be very cheap. Be prepared to ride Florence's somewhat difficult bus system.
