“Disappointing”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

Booked four nights using my "Flavours" points (the Golden Tulip Hotel group "rewards" programme).
Disappointing that the hotel doesn't offer an airport shuttle service - the Golden Tulip Hotel in Accra, Ghana can manage this... The taxi was about 12 Euro each way.
The receptionist wasn't too cheerful on our arrival. Dragged our own bags to the ground floor "superior" room.
Strange that the carpets were wet by the door - as well as the wall. Found out why - our shower outlet was blocked so presume they had the same problem upstairs? Blockage was cleared by a very helpful maintenance man who also brought more pillows.
We only ate the continental breakfast (included) there. Not bad but I have had a lot better.
The hotel is very well situated for public transport as the bus stops are on the main road right outside the hotel grounds. It is easy to buy bus tickets at the small shop 200m around the corner as the hotel kept running out of them.
There are two pizza restaurants nearby - the one 200m on the left as you go out of the hotel grounds is superb (can't recall the name). There is also a nice general store about 100m away where you can buy snacks, wine etc.
I think that the hotel is run on a shoe-string budget which might make it seem like a nice place for the "tour bus' people staying for only one night but does not help if you stay longer - the carpets are getting threadbare and the place looks a bit run down.
I would probably stay there again but only for the convenience of having the buses right on the doorstep and for the great pizza restaurant (make sure that you have the calzone).

“Aweful!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 September 2011

We booked our hotel through Holiday Plus. We thought we only had to purchase breakfast - 20 euro each, but when we arrived were told we had to pay 40 euro each for dinner and 20 euro for breakfast each. I agreed (foolishly) thinking it would be similar to our stay the night before at the Great Western in Lucca. Oh but how terribly wrong i was! They charged us 40 euro for a tiny plate of potatoe pasta, processed chicken and salad a pice of cocunut cake. We had NO options! And still made us pay for our drinks. And they had 2 waiters serving about 80 people - no jokes! It was shocking!
The room was terrible, needed some updating and was SO noisy! It was though there was no wall between the room nextdoor or the outside...we hardly had any sleep!
The breakfast was continental, nowhere near 20 euro.
I am not one to complain, but really felt cheated by the amount of money we had to pay for what we received, especially when we had bought the exact same deal at a hotel in Lucca.
I would most definately think twice about staying here!

“Not a particularly good Hotel to stay at”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 July 2011

Had a three day stay but very disappointed with this Hotel. Booked via laterooms.com who really should have promoted this hotel for really what it is. It certainly is not 4* and should not be rated as such. The hotel is basic and needs a complete makeover. Rooms are not particularly clean and got bitten regularly by mosquitoes. No cups or glasses available in the room in case you wanted to have a drink even if it was to drink water .

Whilst we will not stay there again there were a few positives ie the young lady at the front desk "Barbara" did her utmost to help with information on the city centre and in any other way she could be of assistance. If it was not for her I would have moved on. However I will not visit that hotel again unless it is brought up to scratch.

“Very bad, flea infested rooms”

Not sure what the deal is with Golden Tulip however their inconsistency scares me.

The hotel is literally falling apart I would not recommend it to anyone, our room was terrible and we all got bitten up badly. The air condition didn't work and the WIFI only works in the main lobby.

The guy at the front desk was always grumpy.

“The worst hotel I have ever been”

Take advice, do not go in this hotel. I do not know how to describe my stay there. I have spent there 3 nights wih a large groups more than 30 and all of them were dissapointed, Terrible smell in a room, frig was not cleaned of rest food, water in toalete very loud almost 120 db, water in bath stay after shower, tv with very low signal. All three nights I could not sleep due to young groups who were very loud and drink in rooms so I had to call receptionist. The breakfast was poor and selective.
