We live literally up the street from the Lucchesi Hotel, but because of work being done in our apartment have now had the pleasure to be guests. What a treat! The hotel is in excellent condition, Murano chandeliers in the rooms, gorgeous art work and original desk when you check in. We spent time walking about and looking at the restored work from the turn of the century. It has been a hotel for over 150 years. The public spaces have large groupings of seatings where you can relax and read or just chat with friends in a sunny atmosphere. The breakfast room serves elegant and complete buffet and it was during this Christmas Holiday week completely filled! We were asked if we wanted an upgrade to a room facing the River, but because we live on the River opted for the back which faces the hills of Fiesole, the Santa Croce and bells, the Duomo, Synogogue and is just incredible to see this ancient vista. Okay we are partial to the city of course, but seeing this for us is never old, so if you are in the rooms in the back, do not stress, it is unbelievable to see and you can always walk up or down the River. Plus it is quiet. Often we pass the hotel and see small tour buses from elite small groups that house people there. You need not worry about that at all, they are well-travelled and not mass tourists with hundreds of cases, etc. All in all, it was a place that we would stay again should the need arise and in fact we do use the hotel for guests visiting us. Can highly recommend the Lucchesi. RTD
