We chose to walk to the hotel from the train station as it didn’t look far on our map but if we could turn back time then would definitely jump in a cab – it’s not actually that far but dragging a suitcase behind you on narrow cobbled streets wasn’t that much fun! We found the hotel which was on the same street as Michelangelo’s David and you can see the Cathedral at the bottom of the street. We timed it and it was a 6 minute walk from the amazing cathedral – perfect location.
At first we had the most amazing room but after having come back from site seeing, wanting a shower and change to go out for dinner there was no hot water, very annoying. I went to reception and told them and the girl (although very helpful) said she was new and she didn’t know what to do. She seemed quite happy to leave it at that it was only when I pushed it and said I wanted a new room or borrow a room so I could shower did she try ringing the manager. The manager said she would be here in ten mins so I went back to my room and waited, she turned up about half hour later and was pretty miserable (I suppose you would be when your heavily pregnant and get called from home to sort out a moany guest but that’s not my problem!) she didn’t really seem like she wanted to help and only after pushing for what they were going to do to sort the situation out did we get to change rooms – to one considerably smaller than the one we were first put in! The room was fine but wasted an hour or so of our night trying to sort this out.
I couldn’t help but feel they knew this room didn’t have hot water but was impressive so put guests in to see if they would moan about it! As it turns out the rest of our stay was perfect and the room was fine – clean and had everything we needed, location was really good too but sour memories always stick!
Very reasonable price, clean and good location, check you have hot water as soon as you check in – if you do – Happy Days!
