The initial impression given from the front entrance of the hotel is good with a grandish entrance and reasonable reception desk. The breakfast room are to the right and the lounge/bar to the left as one enters and both quite reasonable spaces with cheerful decoration. I noted that the dried flower arrangements on each floor were incredibly dusty as if they had been put in place many years ago.
We were given rooms on the 4th (top) floor, which were barely adequate in respect of size and furnishings. My single room had its bed along one wall butting up against the single door cabinet and mini-bar. I estimate the room was about 9ft long by 5ft wide, with a cabinet style toilet area off the room. Natural light entered the room from a narrow window 8ft above floor level and a peculiar semicircular window at floor level, neither provided a view. The decoration was in dark wood, orange and yellow paint and all surfaces were badly marked by black marks. There was no table of any sort in the room and I had to use the dirty cloth covered stool to balance reading material on. The room would have been adequate for a one night stay but for a week it was miserable and claustrophobic. Although we were promised free internet access this did not prove to be true, as the cost is €8 per day, or €5 for an hour in the lounge. Continental breakfast was adequate varied and all ingredients seemed fresh. The hotel is a walkable distance from the Duomo and on the same street as the Academia Della Galleria which houses Michelangelo's David. We also discovered that if you made any taxi arrangements through the hotel there were hidden charges, which were not explained up front. Be warned the hotel needs a Deep Clean and fundamental redecoration throughout.
Room Tip: Insist that you are not housed on the 4th floor, no views whatsoever.

Dear customer,
as the hotel De La Pace took the place of an ancient renovated 18th century palace, not all the rooms are the same size and shape, it happened to me to say it before. This implies advantages and disadvantages. The room were you have been staying in fact is located at the 4th floor which is a natural mezzanine. For this reason there was no wide windows but only half moon windows at the ground level. The room where you stayed is a regular single standard room even though it might appear smaller compared to other rooms of our hotels, but you need to consider that on the basis of the hotel movimentation, and occupation, and room vacancy, we make our best to give the best rooms to our customers in order of booking. It is very common in fact we provide our clients with double rooms for single rooms even if it is not requested at the same rate of a single room.
The Internet is the only extra service we have, and we specify it since the beginning, nevertheless we cooperate with several agencies and we offer packages with special offers in which the WIFI is sometimes included in the price, once the client is telling us the wifi was included in the Hotel offer purchased, we immediately provide the client with a free WIFI, otherwise we give for granted that the WIFI needs to be paid as for all the rest of the clients.
One last note. The are no surcharges if the Hotel is calling a taxi for the clients, and quite the opposite, we always make free call to call taxis for our clients. This is a common misinformation. The surcharge whatever taxi is adding at the final bill is equal to the cost of the itinerary and time for the taxi to come from the place where it was stationed to the place where it has been called to, no matter if our hotels is calling the taxi or if a single client is calling a taxi from a cell phone on the street. These information are well specified inside every taxi, and we provide our clients with every information requested, even these, but this doesn't seem to me to be one of the main and general information due to be given to our clients while they are staying here, I repeat, if it is not specifically requested, we rather like to provide our clients with information reguarding itineraries, tours, museums information, restaurant recommandations, etc.
We apreciate your attention and notes reguarding the dust on the dried plants located on the floors, and we profit this precious information to awarn our personnel working on the floors to pay more attention to the cleaning of those decorations in the future.
Best regards,
Giorgio
