“Appalling Hotel - It is a Hovel!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 January 2012

No one description can bring out the true disgustingness (new word!) of this place. I did check trip adviser before we booked. We needed a hotel that could accommodate a family in one room and I was assured by the October review by the lady who stayed with her son and his friend. That reassured me it should be at least ok. It is barely fit for hourly stays! We booked for two nights. We arrived late, not late enough to go into shock at the state of the place. We stayed the night and bolted in the morning. Some examples of the conditions are: threadbare carpets with holes, lobby lounges threadbare, lounge kick boards chipped. Obvious dirt and dust everywhere. We booked a room with a double and two singles and got 3 singles and a scungy old fold out single couch with the thinnest sheets - I contemplated sleeping standing. The cupboard was a cut out section the middle of the wall, barely a shirt length and the door to it was damaged chipboard. The bathroom grout was covered in mould, the hot water was Luke warm (middle of winter). You had to get rough with the shower handle to get the water to come out. What purported to be a bar fridge was some dilapidated box plonked on the floor in the corner. The air conditioner/heater rattled and made disconcerting noises. It was only turned on when we got into the room, my children were cold all night. The walls were gouged and chipped throughout. The only positive about the hotel was that I could use their Internet to send an email to Wotif setting out these issues. I sat in their lobby at 11pm typing the email. My experience was further enhanced when I asked for a glass of water and was told they couldn't give me a glass of water but could sell me a bottle of water! In the morning imagine my joy when in the light of day I observed what appeared to be blood spatter on the entry wall in the room and high on the wall in the bathroom - next to the antique hair dryer. In the morning the owner advised me wotif had sent my email to him and he agreed to not charge us for the second night. I attempted to dialogue with him about the issues and he simply waved his hand at me. Enough said!

Room Tip: If you want a good room, stay somewhere else. We moved to an Accor hotel.

“Never take this hotel - with Ritz it has nothing in common”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

Ths hotel with Ritz it has nothing in common, just the name. Beware...

In bookings classification it has 4 stars.... but in my opinion 1 is a max.

The rooms are very small.
Tv was put on a floor and it was old type tv.
The small fridge was really loudly.
The room and bathorrom were very small and not so clean.

The receptionist was not speaking english.

The breakfast offer was really small and as I remember it was not served at the sun deck.

It is very close to Arno river and city center. The price for such quality is overestimated.
Secrettary chose this hotel because of name ( i do not have the time to check the opinions).

Room Tip: Hmm... nothing to say.

“Loved Hotel Ritz”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 October 2011

Traveling with 23 year old son & his friend, I was elated to be shown a triple that was comprised of 2 rooms, one for me and one for them! Huge bathroom, clean and great location, close to the Ponte Vecchio Bridge. The staff was so considerate and helpful and provided affordable first class restaurants for dinner. Good WiFi in the lobby, new management is making terrific improvements. I'd be surprised if you were disappointed staying here.

Room Tip: If looking for a triple, ask for the one that contains 2 separate rooms.

“Not 4 Star but in great location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Ritz was advertised as a 4 star hotel which we booked as a Mystery 4 Star Accommodation. We were disappointed in the level of accommodation - very old and basic.
Location was great.
Staff were very good.
Breakfast was basic but enough for a good feed.

“Great room, great bathroom, great location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 October 2011

Hotel Ritz Firenze is a well run hotel in a great location. The desk staff is incredibly nice and helpful. Everyone spoke english very well and the owner was very attentive to our needs. We got a triple room and it was the beat room we got in Italy. The bathroom was huge! There was a master suite and another separate room that has the other two beds. It worked out perfectly well for what we needed. The restaurant recommendations were incredible, as were the sightseeing recommendations. I would definitely stay here again.
