Hotels in Florence can be hit or miss, but the Gioia delivers exactly what it promises: decent if small rooms in a central location (just north of the Duomo, halfway to Piazza San Marco) with no frills but at a good price. The breakfast is nothing to write home about, but who goes to Florence for good breakfasts? When booking, make sure also to check out the deals on the hotel's own website: you may do better than through some consolidated booking service.

This little 'gem' of a hotel is in a great location in Florence. It's close to the Accademia, Palazzo Medici-Riccardi, San Lorenzo, the Central Market and, of course, the Duomo. The room was spacious and clean although the bathroom was a little cramped. The staff were pleasant and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

Cozy hotel in the center of Florence! Walking distance from Central Station, Market and the main tourist attractions, e.g. Duomo, Academia. Staff was helpful and always had a smile on their faces.

The staff and location of this hotel are wonderful! Breakfast was lacking a little bit in terms of selection, but the extremely friendly staff and awesome coffee more than make up for it!
Wifi was free and easy to use. Room was large, but the air conditioner leaked and has been leaking onto the carpet and wall for some time…. not really pleasant but we left the air conditioner off the whole trip. Via Cavour is very loud and busy, but we slept just fine.
The worst thing about this hotel was the shower. Very tiny and the water leaked everywhere because the curtain was not set up properly. I had to have my husband hold the curtain so that it would not touch me while I was showering (kinda gross). If they would fix this and the mouldy carry where the air conditioner has been leaking then I would have given it a better rating because this hotel was great and staff we amazing… but a bathroom and carpet are too important to look the other way.
