The hotel is well located in Florence -- about 5 minutes from the central train station, and within walking distance to the main churches and museums. The extensive market is one block away and there are numerous good restaurants within a couple of blocks. The hotel has been updated, with nicely done modern bathrooms, flat screen televisions, reliable free wi-fi internet throughout. The day clerk on the front desk was very helpful with suggestions to our questions. And the breakfast, while continental, had lots of choice.

A small problem was the modern shower leaked a bit of water onto the floor every time we used it. It happens. So we mopped it up and reported it - hopefully this was limited to our suite and is now fixed.

I stayed 4 nights in October. The weather was perfect mostly sunny, warm days & cool nights. No need for air condition & no mosquito problem. Excellent central location & the hotel is within easy 10 minute walk from the Stazione di Santa Maria Novella. First night had a single room/large bed with the bathroom (non-share) right across the hall. The remaining 3 nights had a double room/large bed with in room bath. The single room was naturally more affordable & having the dedicated bath across the hall is not inconvenient at all. The bathrooms are not ventilated so that’s another advantage of having the bath across the hall. The bed mattress/springs are more like the set-up in a convertible sofa bed; however, it did not bother me. My budget hotel in Rome had the same type of bed. Very good breakfast bar. Rooms have double windows, which does an excellent job keeping the street noise out. Be sure to check-out the nearby Mercato with shops & eateries (closes 2pm?). Plenty of restaurants nearby. I walked to all of the attractions. Excellent train system in Italy & I was able to do 2 day trips from Florence (Siena & Venice). Be aware noise can be a problem if you have a loud neighbor. The building is of solid masonry construction & loud noises from the adjoining rooms travel easily through the walls. On my last night there was a very loud group in the next room late into the night. However, one phone call to the front desk put a stop to the party.

The Hotel City is within walking distance of all the main attractions and the railway station. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. The rooms are tastefully furnished, comfortable and spotlessly clean; the wifi is free, fast and reliable. The continental breakfast deserves particular mention, in particular the pastries which were delicious, the best we have ever tasted. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this excellent hotel.

Doriana and Francesco were wonderful. They were at the front desk greeting us every morning or evening and very friendly and helpful if we had any questions. The room was plenty spacious for 2 people. The bathroom was clean and spacious as well. We had no noise problems even with the window open some nights. The only negative we had was that the pillows were rather hard. The breakfast was a nice, European continental brkfst (cereals, yogurt, meats, cheeses, hard boiled egg, breads, pastries, coffee/tea, juices and milk) - plenty of food to start your day. It's located very close to the train station. We were able to walk to/from the station w/our luggage w/no problem. It was convenient when we took day trips to other cities as well. We stayed 5 nights and would definitely return to this hotel.
