Hotel Albani Firenze has a great location. We were able to walk to all the desired sites. The hotel staff was helpful from check in until checkout. Upon arrival we were given a very detailed map that we used to walk around the 3.5 days while in Florence. Also, circled on the map were recommended areas for eating lunch and dinner. The hotel stored our luggage after check out so we did not have to worry about dragging it around the city. The hotel breakfast was decent. We had a nice and clean room on the second floor with a king size bed and a fairly spacious bathroom with the option to take a bath or a shower. We had dinner at the hotel one night and it was good. There is a very comfortable sitting area on the first floor just outside the lobby which also had a computer and printer for guest use. Great location if you are taking the train. Only a block from the train station. Overall it was an excellent stay.

If your are traveling around Italy on the train, the hotel is so convenient. When we got off the train, I was a little unsure about the location, but once we walked onto Via Fiume, it was a pleasant surprise. The street was very clean and the hotels were very nice. The room was very clean and spacious and the bathroom was so nice. We had free WiFi which was great as we were facebooking our trip at night. To top it off there was a great breakfast in the morning.

We stayed for 7 nights so I would have expected better service from the staff. Only the breakfast crew took notice, which was quite nice since they were overwhelmed with tour groups 4 mornings. Our room was quite small, but nicely appointed. The bathroom was fairly large. Wi-fi was successful on the first floor and basement (but don't try it at breakfast downstairs when a tour is there because tables are scarce and they don't want you to linger. I liked the location because of the train and bus station proximities. Since Florence is all about walking, the 10 min stroll to the Duomo was fine. There is a rare food market around the corner for picnic supplies. A chinese restaurant close by seemed patronized by only Asians,but we thought the 2 meals we ate were great, albeit not Italian.

We stayed in the Hotel Albani Firenze on the 2nd and 3rd days of our trip to Italy.

It was a perfect base for our family of four, both from the point of view of:
- location -- less than 5 minutes walk from the train station; 10 minutes walk to the historic city centre; and
- room configuration -- the “family room” consisted of two en-suite rooms (a twin and a king) accessed by a single entrance vestibule.

This layout enabled us and the kids to each have our own living spaces. Unlike most “family rooms”, in which all four of us would have been located together, we were able to send the kids to bed at a reasonable hour, while we stayed up and enjoyed the peace and quiet.
The hotel staff were helpful, for example promptly providing us with an adaptor for our computer as soon as we asked. The breakfast (included in the tariff) was more than adequate, with lots of variety. Free WiFi was included in the room.

The only downsides to this hotel seemed to be the tricky room switches (there seemed to be about 6 per room and their functions seemed to change depending upon which switches were depressed at any one time) and the lack of kettle in the room. When we asked for a kettle, we were offered pots of hot water instead. Perhaps the hotel is worried about the cosy furnishings getting damaged by steam, but it would have been nice to have been able to boil some water for a cup of tea without having to ask at the restaurant for a pot of hot water.
All in all, the Hotel Albani Firenze suited our family’s needs. We would highly recommend it to anyone wishing to stay in a welcoming place, in a convenient location, in Florence.
