The hotel was lovely. Old world charms looking over a piazza.
The rooms could use a touch up, that said, for Europe they are a good size. The staff were more than accomodating providing directions and taxis whenever we stepped out the door.
You are a bit from the center of Florence, but it is less than a ten minute walk to all the hustle and bustle. Right across from the St. Regis...I couldn't help but think...I wonder what it's like over there????

The location of the hotel is perfect; a short walk from the railway station and only a few minutes stroll to the all the sights of the city. As one of the previous reviewers said the sixth floor bar and restatuarant is a real must, even if you're not staying at the hotel. However at 7 euros for a coke keep reminding yourself that you're paying for the view - but what a view! The room was spacious and in keeping with the hotel, don't expect uber-modern but it was clean and very comfortable. Worth mentioning that the concierge was excellent and recomended two great restauarants. We will return!

Stayed at this hotel on short notice with a starhot rate from my sister. Great location, right on the Arno. Had a great room with a balcony and view of the Arno. Room service was great, and so was the new bar and restaurant on the top of the hotel. Very mod and refreshing in such a baroque setting. They even extended our stay by a day with no questions or problems. Very appreciated. Concierge also set up our train tickets and had them delivered to the hotel. Very helpful. It's hard to go wrong with Starwood properties.

The Hotel is located just next to the Arno river ,very close to the station and walking distance from the Must visits of Florence. This allows the guest to stay in one of the best addresses in Florence without worrying about transportation etc...Loved the way the hotel brings the traditional and modern into the guest experience in a classy manner. We stayed in December and were very satisfied with the quality of room and services at the Excelsior. The beds are truly Heavenly Beds.....Housekeeping services very good. The Lobby is traditional and very European . The Uffizi and Accademia were walking distance and the concierge helps out in planning out your visit effectively....
