We stayed for 2 nights in this hotel. I do not agree with some of the earlier reviews. Our room (a family suite) was very nicely decorated, had beautiful bathrooms and view onto the very nice garden of the main square. The location is where the main embassies were when Florence was briefly the capital of Italy. It actually recalls a British square, a 10 minutes walk from the town's center.
Staff was excellent, helpful and very kind to us. So, I would recommend this hotel, especially because luxury is understated and not in your face.

We took our kids for 2 days in Florence. The suite was great. The staff was very very friendly. And very responsible to all needs. Even when we lost something. Location just right. I would recommend this.

Rooms were okay, very oddly decorated.. Had Internet/tv. Breakfast was good.. Didn't really have a lobby.. My overall experience was just blah.. Not much to say.. Over priced.. Should of stayed at the four seasons roght down the street..

There seems to be quite a few varying reports of this hotel I can only report on my experience which was very pleasant. I found the staff professional, breakfast very good and the location excellent as it is away from the busy centre, yet only a 10/15 minute walk to Santa.Maria del Fiore in the historic heart of the city. Room was quite spacious, also bathroom, both in good if not exceptional decorative condition. I like the intimacy of this hotel, as a frequent traveller over the years I have become less and less enamoured of the large so called 5 star establishments which are invariably quite impersonal and often attract the worst kind of guest.
My visit to this hotel was before Nov.2010 which is the earliest date listed on this site.
