“Simple yet delicious”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 August 2010

I had not one, but two fantastic meals at I'Tozzo di Pane. Even before you start eating, you'll fall in love with the wonderful outdoor seating area they have right at the back of the restaurant. It is covered in greenery and flowers, I can think of no better surroundings in which to enjoy a meal. Our waiter was very friendly, and even recommended his favourite gelateria to us!

I enjoyed all the dishes I had here, but the one standout dish for me was the orecchiette con salsiccia, cavolo nero e semi di finocchietto (pasta with pork sausage, black cabbage and fennel seeds). On the other hand, my partner loved their filetto di maiale all’aceto balsamico (balsamic vinegar pork fillet) and ordered it on both visits.

I have reviewed each dish in detail on my blog, if you're interested. http://breadetbutter.wordpress.com/2010/07/23/the-food-of-florence-part-2/

In short, this is a lovely restaurant, and I will definitely return if I visit Florence again.

“Ate here 2 nights”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 August 2010

Food was very good and value for money. We tried Giannino closer to our hotel the second nite, and decided to return here for the biscetta steak (~22 Euros) we didnt order the first time. Portions were small/sufficient but very tasty. Only 1 young waiter at the courtyard in the back, but he was very friendly and chatty, with no pressure on having to order a bottle of wine. Located at which seems to be a little less desirable corner of Central Market.

“Osteria i' Tozzo - Great Value”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 August 2010

Nice outdoor seating during the summer. We came for dinner and had nice cold antipasto dishes and wonderful pasta. Pretty good value and decent wine list.

“Friendly but slow service...Food o.k.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 27 July 2010

Arrived at 8.15pm and left at 10.15pm.Two hours for a two course meal was definitely too long.We were seated in a small outside courtyard. The service was warm and friendly.Food was o.k.I did however have an excellent artichoke carpaccio.Followed by some tasty gnocchi.I must admit that the cold meat starters looked great but did not try them.Price was very reasonable.Shame we had to wait so long.Frankly after reading the good reviews I was expecting better.
