After travelling for 3 weeks all around Italy, we planned 4 nights at Il Falconiere. This was the most expensive of any hotel we stayed at - even higher than Rome. We specifically travelled in November to avoid the crowds (and air conditioning issues). Overall, the locaion & views are beautiful, the staff was nice, and the room was always clean. However, the pricing is far too high for what you get.
Staying for so many nights, we tried every experience the hotel could offer. The cooking class was the highlight - the chef was wonderful & the food was amazing! The rest of the experience was not so great...the key to the room was an old skelton key & the lock did not work, so we left our room unlocked every day. The hotel does not have wireless unless you are sitting in the restaurant building - this is something that was very frustrating. Also, as a couple, we experienced a spa service - which was horrible. The staff did not speak English and the couples bath was too hot, overpriced, and a mess. We stayed 5 minutes and left. The pool is very nice looking, but is cool. We enjoyed the restuarant for one night, but found it to be far too expensive. Since the location is so remote, you have no choice for other food options onsite. The room service is extremely high ($40+ for a salad) and the menu is small. For the price of this hotel, there should be a more common, basic food option. We also took the wine tour, but felt it was overpriced and short. Also, our room was on the ground floor and we were awoken every night between 2-4AM when the upstairs guests came home from the bar's. When we asked reception about the noise the next day, they simply said sorry and that "The buildings are quite old".??
When we go back to this area on our next trip, I would stay somewhere else. Actually, one of the guests recommended renting a local villa - its about the same price and you have private meals. I would not go back to Il Falconiere.
Overall, this hotel is great for location but keep in mind you are going to be very secluded. Pricing is very high to eat at Il Falconiere and a taxi gets expensive.
Room Tip: Higher floors have less noise.

Dear JodieT772,
thank you for your review, and I'm sorry for your disappointing.
I'm happy for averythig you find very good like the cooking lesson and really my goal is make happy every client!
About our Villa, yes of course is date back 1650 and we are very proud to preserve the old doors, the original floors and ceiling. Guests who makes a reservaton at Il Falconiere want quiet and relax and for this usually our guests love to go in thier rooms very early and for this reason we colse the restaurant and bar early not later than midnight. I'm sorry for the noising coming from other rooms disturbed your sleep. November is also a very nice and calm month ideal to travel in Tuscany. About the spa it is very nice and the spa manager speaks a very fluent English, the other girls speak English good enough to understand every wish and problem, the most important they are absolutely outstanding for massages and treatments, and usually during the treatmants they have just make their job in absolutely silence to let you enjoy the treatment and relax . The wine tour is one of the best in Tuscany. The tour is usually hold personally by myself or my son Benedetto or my husband Riccardo and it is complete, it takes about 1 hour and half and includes tour of the wineyards, winery and champagnery, followed by a wine tasting in the cellar of the restaurant ( tasting of 3 differnt wines and bruschetta with olive oil tasting, salami and cheese) at € 25.00 . Usually we inform clients about the costs of every service and treatments, so it is very strange you find them expensive. Everybody can decide to take part or not, to order something or not at the end you are guests in a Relais&Chateux with a Michelin star restaurant with a very good service, at disposal of our clients and ready to resolve every problem or desire . I hope to have the possibility to welcome you again in the future to have the possibility to change your opinion. Truly yours. Silvia Baracchi
