We celebrated our 30th aniversary in Taormina and we stayed at hotel Monte Tauro. We were generally very satiesfied with the hotel and especialy with the service. The personnel was very
friendly and helpful and they did their best to fulfill even our smallest wish to ensure our comfort.
We appreciated that our room was upgraded to a lovely junior suite, which gave a goldlining to our stay. The breakfast was good and varied with a beautiful view over the sea. We had a "honeymoon package", which included spumante, fruits in the room and a three course dinner in the restaurant and we liked the food very much. Special thanks to Filippo and Fransesco in the restaurant for the entertaining service. We enjoyed! We appreciated the peaceful and stylish atmosphere and we can rekommend hotel Monte Tauro for even the most demanding customers. We want to thank the whole staff for our pleasant and memorable stay at Your hotel. We hope we have the opportunity to stay at Monte Tauro again!

I stayed a week with my best friend Diana. We were thrilled with everything: the room, the interior design, the pool, breakfast. The VIEW and LOCATION in precious Taormina is unbeatable. Highly recommended.

Beautiful hotel in Taormina only a couple of blocks from the center of town.

POSITIVES: excellent food (breakfast and dinner; for dinner, the chicken was exceptional - some of the best chicken we have ever eaten); good service; fantastic views; non-smoking hotel; parking on-site; newer building

NEGATIVES: even though it is only four blocks from the center of town, it is difficult for people who are physically challenged (not an issue for me, though); the hotel is down a steep hill --- this seemed to be a challenge for some drivers (though we did notice that the bellman drove some guests up the hill in their car; this was not an issue for me).

This hotel is fabulously located overlooking the Ionian Sea and because it is literally perched in a ravine is laid out in an unconventional way that really bamboozled my wife who couldn't get used to the reception, lounge, restaurant and bar being above the bedrooms and the pool below them. Neither did she warm to the vertiginous lift that projects from the side of the building which allows you to take in the spectacular scene. The hotel is furnished stylishly in the public areas and our bedroom (a superior double) both practically and comfortably for our need, the balcony space was adequate and we spent a couple of afternoons in the shade there reading and soaking up the view. Our bathroom was compact but had every amenity and all was maintained well and kept very clean. We ate in Toarmina some evenings and the hotel restaurant on others and we found both dinner and breakfast at the hotel to be very enjoyable with a good mix of international and regional cuisine. All of the staff we dealt with were friendly and helpful and did everything necessary to make our stay comfortable. All in all this is a nice hotel but there are some downsides. First of all this hotel is by no means cheap and we have stayed in some expensive places and unlike many of those the Monte Tauro delivers nothing extra or above and beyond for the price. Room service is very limited and works around restaurant and bar opening times in an unconventional way. Anyone who cannot cope with stairs or slopes should give the place a miss because they are integral to the hotel being where it is, and like the Amalfi region of Italy the acces is very tight. Nice hotel but expect to pay a high price.
