I’m sure you have read all the reviews, just as I did before planning my honeymoon, and now you are stuck between two or three hotels that seem equally good, clean and beautiful. You don’t want to go to the hotel that looks too much like a resort, but you don’t want to make the mistake of trying to be ‘different’ and missing out on the one that everyone recommended. I only plan on getting married once, so you can just imagine how indecisive I was, however I can sincerely say that this hotel ticked all our boxes and more.
From the day that I arrived I was stuck by the town of Taomina. My husband and I rented a car and it was the best decision that we made. The views from the different layers of the hill are quite exceptional. At every corner and every angle you see something new which you can’t help but gasp at. The building was located right in front of the beach, not too close or too far from the town, exactly what I wanted for my perfect, romantic getaway. I picked the month of April (after the Easter holidays might I add) because I wanted to benefit from the sun, whilst staying away from the overcrowded beeches during peak seasons.
After knowing that we elected the perfect town in Sicily, my attention was now towards the hotel, wondering whether this is going to live up to the expectations I acquired because of Trip Advisor. Yes it did. Our room on the third floor was the best in the hotel. The views...the king sized bed....the bath/shower room. Everything was asking to get explored or touched. But the most amazing part of the room was the view. I would stay here again and again just to see that panorama every morning. Forget the amazing buffet breakfast (might I recommend the lemon cake), forget the roof top pool and bar, but consider the views.
Antonio and Pietro, we would like to give you a special thank you for making every day so special. Thank you for giving us such great advice about where to eat, especially satisfying my tiramisu craving. Thank you for exchanging the wine for non alcoholic drinks, since my partner and I don’t drink. Thank you for arranging a breakfast-to-go for us the morning we left and for telling me what channel I could watch the Chelsea Vs Barcelona match. Most of all thank you for being like family during our eight day stay.
I could write in far more detail about my honeymoon in paradise; however I’m going to skip the details and give you some tips. Do go to all the restaurants that Antonio and Pietro recommend to you. Explore the town thoroughly; there is so much to see in Taomina itself. Rent a car and definitely see Syracuse, Ragusa and Catania. If you are driving further out, always stay on the main roads, even if the satnav tells you otherwise....you will get lost...not all the main roads are built yet around Agrigento and it can get quite intimidating after dark, so make sure you plan your day well. A must see is Mount Etna, you can do it in half a day easily as Taomina is not too far. Make the most of everyday, I must admit that my husband and I spent hardly any time by the pool (the last day for a couple of hours) because there is just so much to see and do. Parking in Sicily is fairly cheap (I’m obviously comparing this to London) and make sure you buy the Trip Advisor book on Sicily, it was my Bible throughout our stay.
I have never written on Trip Advisor before, but felt the need to say thank you for making our honeymoon so incredible. This hotel deserves all the credit that it is receiving, especially to the staff, and I apologise for not knowing all your names, but you make this place the little heaven that it is and I look forward to seeing you all again.
Tell the hotel in advance that you want to stay on the third floor, they will arrange that for you.
